Future Chelsea captain.
I was thinking that too. Chelsea need a new centre back and JP's performances must be catching the eye of bigger clubs (Man U are also in the market for another defender). It wouldn't shock me to see a bid coming in this summer.

Agree, but also think West Ham being so poor also helped.
Were they?

Their game play was counter attack with fast breaks using Bowden as the fulcrum - and JP is the sole reason that failed.

Is there somewhere we can rewatch JP’s outrageous back heel pass thing, under pressure on the edge of our box. Sky inexplicably never shown a replay of it. I swear it was better than his Cruyff turn on Haaland.
That was incredible. It looked like he’d played himself into trouble and then plucked that out of nowhere, sensational skill. It was reminiscent of Dunk chesting back to the keeper under pressure. Fantastic to see.

I noticed that young Hinsh is also an advocate of the chest pass back to the keeper.

I really don’t think it’s a coincidence that his best performances for us have come when Dunk is not there. He becomes the leader and leads by example.

I remember having the exact same thought but about Dunk playing without Greer.
And now the music from The Lion King plays in my mind "It's the circle of centre backs"

I think he's better than Colwill will ever be. I'm so pleased how well JPVH is developing, he's a top Centre Back and I wouldn't be surprised if he partners Van Dijk for the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

Will be pretty hard to displace Ake but certainly should be looking at getting in the squad.

I'm not sure it's Ake he needs to replace. I might be wrong, but hasn't Ake been playing left back in a 4 and left of the three? I thought they'd gone to a back 4 and De Vrij (decent enough player with a high class pedigree) was partnering Van Dijk? De Ligt isn't really getting much game time at Bayern so I can see Van Hecke muscling his way in but he's not got much time to do so.

A few goals for us in the second half of the season wouldn't do him any harm!

I'm surprised they didn't mention that :lolol:

"A good time to play West Ham as they're missing key players." Unbelievable
To be fair, they DID acknowledge the Albion's dreadful injury list, too.
