First time I've seen close footage of the first handball. That's outrageous.
Interesting that the club has compiled and publicised a video of all 5 incidents though!

Of course there isn't any problem with the technology, all the tech does is facilitate the playing of video replays, it isn't deciding anything (yet). The issue is with the person making the decisions after using the technology.

They need more people on var including ex players who know rules too. A team looking at key incidents, then referring to VAR guy who in turn to ref. More eyes the better.
Yes some of it was taking a while, and it was becoming refereeing by VAR with nit picking officials hunting for minutiae, but not doing job properly and getting blatant and obvious decisions so clearly wrong in simply unforgivable. If match finishes 4 minutes later and calls are correct so be it, its a million times better than saving a few minutes snd having such a travesty.
Stuart Atwell is not good enough for PL level, he's always making mistakes and has already been demoted before...... and Salisbury who has all that technology in front of him is not up to the job and should be removed.

I was in Germany a couple of weeks ago meeting up with colleagues from Germany, Spain and Italy. Footballing conversation revolved around the shit state of Italian football (apparently it’s dire), the Athletico fan ranting about barce and real and the almost weekly f*** ups with var in England. I was asked if the people running VAR are also the ones running Brexit. Apparently VAR works pretty well in Europe (though they’ve had a few cock ups) and on evidence so far is plus rather than a minus. The problem in England is quality of refs and interpretation of the var.
The problem for me is a lack OF investment in bringing refs on, arrogance of pgmol in that English refs are THE best in the world and ignoring the steady drop in quality over the last few years.

That one is definitely on the 'assistant referee' ... just bizarre that he thought he could call handball from his position and then he points to the sleeved area which isn't handball!! And then of course VAR does it's usual and can't find a clear and obvious error

And what about apologies for the other horrendous decisions (plural) in the game? Anyone can make a mistake, but there shouldn’t be that many in a single match, all going the same direction.

The more I watch the video the more convinced I become these are not simple human errors. Something deeper and darker is going on. The club must pursue this to the full extent possible.

The apology is just a smoke screen by PGMOL. Apologise for one mistake, make it look like you're all contrite and really sorry - and hopefully brush the other mistakes under the carpet.

Although my heart is crying out for recompense, my head tells me that all we will get is an apology and a "we will try and do better next time". The decisions will be blamed on the different interpretations of the individuals at the time. Anything other than an apology will open a massive can of worms resulting in 19 other clubs calling for recompense for every VAR decision that went against them.
If bias could be shown with the decisions of these officials involved, then every game they have been involved in this season will need to be reviewed. PGMOL and the Premier League will not want that so will not even look for it.
Unfortunately all we are going to get from this a "sorry - will try better next time".
