BoJo is probably still trying to find the Northern Ireland results.
The country will take off if that happens and your voice will be a squeak .
Football is littered with examples of teams with great players doing nothing and teams with average players achieving great things .
It’s all about the team not individuals and we are going about our business .
Football is about results as results win you things .
Get on board and enjoy us getting the results . We don’t have to look like old school Barca to enjoy it . The enjoyment is in the results . Something Engkand have lacked generally in tournaments

Losing to Germany shouldn't be acceptable with this group of players. Sure, bad results happen and that's fine, but if we go out to the first decent team we play in the knockouts again then I can't see how anybody can argue there has been any real progress. It's great that the players seem to enjoy playing for England again and don't suffer with the fear anymore, but we need more than that now. Beat Germany and our route to the final is wide open.
Southgate's pragmatic approach is probably the right one to get us furthest in the tournament, as much as it pains me to say it. The Hughton comparisons are fair but there is a key difference- Hughton didn't have match winners like Kane / Sterling / Foden etc in the side. England have the quality to get a goal or two while keeping things tight. We need to beat Germany or we should make a change in management.

I know it’d be nice to win every game 4 or 5 nil, but that doesn’t happen too often these days (aside from the odd result, see Spain).
If we 1-0 ourselves all the way to the final I wouldn’t be complaining.

Just because you have, potentially, a talented group of players doesn't give you the divine right to win matches, in fact, most of the squad is young and unproven at this level. We beat Croatia who have an experienced squad and a world class player in Modric. Grealish and Foden are decent but they are nowhere near that level. This isn't anything new, we had even better players in 2006 but the only teams we beat in that tournament was Ecuador and Trinidad ! It's nothing to do with the manager, we have always struggled at International football, our players just don't adapt to it
I sort of agree and sort of don't.
0-0 at home to Scotland considering that probably only three of their players would get in our squad (and two would be fighting over left back) is not a good result, Not in anyone's book.
However, when it comes to Ze Germans I'll take a 1-0 in the 93rd minute off Declan Rice's buttcheek so long as we beat them. Win the thing and Southgate will probably get knighted even if we Hughton our way through.

If Italy were doing what we are doing a lot of people would be saying "typical Italy going to grind their way to the final", I would love us to be open, attacking, extravagant, but that hasn't suited us well in the past.
With the pace in our attack we can afford to be a little pragmatic and play on the break, it isn't pretty, but it has been effective so far.
I wasn't massively impressed by Germany last night, so hopefully another 1-0 to the Engerland win and on to the quarters.
I'm asking for England to win ONE match against genuinely good opposition in knockout football. ONE. In the last 30 years. The fact that people don't see that as realistic says a lot about why England don't win trophies.

Granted I can’t think of a good one since, so your point holds. Maybe Columbia in the last WC.
I think Tuesday might be our best chance. We’re dull but we’re efficient and there is clearly a plan. The question mark is whether the attacking side of things can go up a gear or two, and how we react if/when we go behind for the first time.
Rafa Honigstein has made the point that we’ve got a weird role reserval going on - England coming in as the dull but efficient, solid tournament side, and Germany a disjointed and chaotic bunch of talented individuals being chucked together and hoping something sticks…

0-0 (with 2 clearly onside goals disallowed for the Spanish) and then won on pens.
Colombia were OK at the last WC, but they weren't one of the top sides, and again we needed penalties.
Is it really too much to ask for England to beat one of Germany / France / Italy / Portugal / Spain / Netherlands in a knockout game just once in my lifetime? It doesn't seem like it should be!

Even in WC90 we stumbled past Belgium and Cameroon to reach the Semi we obviously lost (and only beat mighty Egypt in the group stage). I'd actually go further. I don't think we've beaten a top tier side in a tournament knock out game (excluding penalty wins) since 1966. We beat Argentina in 2002 in the group stage and France in 86 but knockout? Nobody. We've beaten Sweden, Columbia and Ecudaor in recent tournaments who are hardly 1970 Brazil.
Other than Spain in 96, I can't think of a Euro knockout game we actually won.

On a call with colleagues in Europe. Three Germans and on Spaniard. All football fans and thankfully non support Bayern or the big two in Spain.
The general view was that if we play Germany as we did in the group stages we’ll get beat. Germany will simply control the game. If we have put them under pressure and be more attacking then it’ll cause the Germans a lot more problems.
General consensus is the either France or Italy will win.

and that's exactly why we need to play 'Galatico's' 'Champion World Football' now, on the way to winning our group without conceding a goal.
The current reasons this England team can't Sheebo their way into my heart:-
I'm 51 - [MENTION=2095]Commander[/MENTION] and the quoted post has that covered.
The Harry's - come across as quite nasty people to have as figureheads.
The manager - although he's rapidly moving down this table and up the positive one.
The Centre Backs - Not just Dunky tinted spectacles but the Burnley boys too.
The media - continually raising the team to a level they are incapable of reaching.
The fans - The entitled ones, and the racist ones.
The vitriol on here alone about the style of play, team selection, not playing our world class attackers.
THEY AREN'T WORLD CLASS.
But they might just be good enough to do something which will win a game if at the other end of the pitch it's locked down tighter than a tight thing that's been really tightly secured. (which I'm still sure will be GS' downfall)
Don't give me all this 'Ferrari to the shops' 'Hughtoning our way through the tournament' 'stuck with Southgate' bollox.
We can only dream of Hughtoning our way through the tournament.
Having a manager who can manage the team to the best of it's abilities and not to it's completely baseless entitled self opinion is the only possible way we could ever win something.
Now I'm no innocent bystander spouting forth Negative Nerys hot takes, but FFS even I can see England are currently very well set by virtue of how they've played so far.
German are very beatable, they have a so so defence and a fair few of the starting 11 will be well known to our players.
If we go out to them Southgate should go.

its not a good result but in hindsight it turned out to be ok . Scotland eliminated , we progress with no dramas. I think in England we get fixated that we have to tear every team apart every game or we are shit. A tournament is a process. We negotiated the first stage easily.
Now we move on and things get real.
