He wasn’t out thought by Hodgson or Alladyce. Both results were ridiculous examples of how sport isn’t about the better team winning. The very thought is hilarious given they were both battered and survived only through some ridiculous profligacy in front of goal. You’re entitled to your opinion but calling what happened in those games tactical genius is completely potty!

Well said. Utterly baffling how anyone could watch that Palace game and think “we were out thought by Hodgson”.

Please.

So much wrong with that:

In his first season he improved every meaningful stat, points, goals, away wins, results against top teams. More points in his first attempt than Hughton managed in two. Now he’s not even alllowed to finish a second season without fans calling for his head.

He wasn’t outthought by Roy or Sam. We absolutely dominated the games, created loads of chances and just couldn’t score. Had we created nothing you may have a point but we battered them. I cannot accept it is the manager fault that two players miss penalties and the referee disallows a perfectly good goal.

Also the top ten aspiration was a long term one, he hasn’t even had two season yet. If after 4/5 years we are still on this position I will agree with you. Had we won the Palace, Villa and WBA games which on another day we could easily have done we would be challenging for top ten this season. Ok we didn’t but we are not that far away.

You mention Hughton who I have so much respect for but the type of performances he was responsible for at the end of last season were unacceptable no matter how much credit is in the bank. Wolves away, Spurs away and Newcastle at home first half were disgraceful anti football performances. We are a million miles from those level of performances

What irritates me the most is how reactionary you are. Three games ago we on our longest ever unbeaten run in the PL, has just had some of the biggest wins in our history and everything is great. We lose three games at least two of which any right minded fan would concede we never should have lost and suddenly the manager should be gone. It’s ridiculous short term thinking, three games FFS.

Standing applause.

There was even chap in the daily “In Out poll” who proudly told us “OUT at the moment, but if Potter gets a result against Newcastle IN”.

Laughable.

Posters like you drive me crazy. Let’s be honest I can’t remember the Palace keeper making any world class saves, penalties are missed because confidence is low and the players don’t believe in themselves I would say that’s the managers department.

Yes RS made a mistake and so did the manager with piss poor substitutions and tactics second half.

In your world no manager would ever get sacked and just finger point at players and say it’s not my fault player X missed three chances

I hope my posts also drive you crazy!

We are in a perilous position. We look the worst of the lot out of the 3 with a chance of staying up. That says something in itself as Newcastle have been awful all season.

Another terribly troubling set of results. Its a race between us and Newcastle and I don't expect us to win. Fulham look good, and have done majority of the season, they had a bad 3 games to the season and their owner was decisive and took real action. I would prefer Fulham's starting 11 to our current 11

It’s sad when it gets down to personal dislike. He was given the job by our owner. I have no doubt he’s doing his best. That might not be good enough but to run down the man appointed by the club to manage the team is really sad.

He runs himself down, 2 wins out of 22 home games, disgraceful, in my opinion he's lucky to have a very well paid top job in the Premier League, that's sad.

Potter was sold to us as fans as being someone who is some sort of tactical maestro, capable of adapting an approach mid-game who could provide us with a welcome turnaround from the last few desperate months under Chris Hughton and make us a top 10 side (the club’s words, not mine). Thus far he hasn’t shown he can change tactics mid-season, let alone mid-match.

Maybe it’s just me, but i can’t recall GP being sold to your fans as a tactical maestro, from what I’ve read on here, the whole concept of Potterball was actually a fans construct.

One fan in particular, sowed this seed, not the club.

Just my outside opinion.

Current form - Fulham 11 from 18, us 5 from 18.

5live said today that on form Fulham have the best defence in the entire EPL. That’s a huge plus at the bottom, where clubs like Fulham and Brighton really struggle to score.

My wild estimate of the chances of relegation would be:
Burnley 10%
Newcastle 30%
Brighton 30%
Fulham 30%

How on earth do you have Newcastle as equally to Fulham or us? They’ve been on a wretched run.

Yeah but come on Neil. You’re quite entitled to not rate GP as a manager, we can all argue on that (and we all do here lol).

But surely we can all see he’s a decent bloke at least?

Everyone at the club seems to like him. He’s clearly trying his hardest to improve our players, our performances and our team. The name calling and personal insults towards the man seems unnecessary.

I think this shows that too much emphasis was put on the victories against Liverpool and Spurs. Last year, Norwich beat Man City, Watford beat Man United and Liverpool (at the height of their ascendency, no less) and Bournemouth beat Chelsea, Leicester and Everton twice. Yet all three went down.

Fulham and Burnley have beaten Liverpool this year. It was a good result, but nothing more than that. At the end of the day, if we'd beaten Fulham (either time) and drawn to Liverpool, we'd be 3 points clear of the drop. There's no point playing football that gets you results against some of the big boys, but not in the games that count around you. We got the results last year that statistically count (6 points off Norwich, 4 points off Watford and three off of 'Muff). We haven't done that this year, and that's our issue.

Don’t give up.

Anyone who doesn’t get the point you’re making is being wilfully ignorant at best.

The point is we’ve been poor for 15 months and the manager gives little indication he knows what to do about it. I don’t regard that opinion as “wilfully ignorant”.

That just wrong, totally wrong.

Our unbeaten run was

Leeds win
Fulham draw
Spurs win
Liverpool win
Burnley draw
Villa draw

I give up.

Potter 2 wins in 22 home matches, at the moment he just ain't cutting it in the Premier League, overrated in my opinion by our club and the pundits.

Jonathan Pearce quote from last week "Brittle Brighton"

Our one and only home win came on the 31/01/2021, nice draws as you have stated but let us look more closely.

Home:

West Brom draw (below us)
Sheff Utd draw (below us)
Fulham draw (below us)

Away:

Fulham draw (below us)
West Brom loss (below us)

Last chance saloon to actually beat a team below us is Sheff Utd away.

I give up!

Where were you when we were unbeaten for 6 games?

Were you calling for GPs head then?

Okay mate, I apologise for the name calling, poor form even for me.

Spot on ! Beat those around you and deprive them of points.

Everyone was sitting in the sun drinking cocktails being fanned by " Olive Branches "

And before you respond. I am only joking :)

I just couldn't let that opportunity slip
