His next "exam" will be to save penalties.

Being honest, with Mat Ryan in goal, I never gave us a hope he might save a penalty.
Steele @ Newport showed us what is possible - can BBS replicate Steele?

Only one slight complaint.
He didn't look to fall to the ground, wait 10 seconds before getting up, after every simple take.
Not that there were many. But he definitely missed about 30 seconds of time-wasting opportunity yesterday.

Did I miss it*, or did MOTD edit this out of their highlights? Shame on them if they did!

*I haven't been able to watch it again, and I'd had a few sherbets by the time MOTD came on last night!

No they didn't nor did they show the full move for the Albion goal (went back a bit further in the studio but not far enough). I thought they might show the flap Sanchez had aswell, as noteworthy. In fact, their editing of the game was awful imo!

As for Sanchez, brilliant and hats off to Potter and the goal keeper coach. And I also wonder, as above, whether Dunk and Webster's opinion was influential? Or was the bust up involving Ryan something to do with the defence's lack of confidence in him or Maupay making a comment? (he seems quite opinionated). Pure speculation obviously.

Hope we don't get carried away though. Many keepers have looked world class until a few mistakes. De Gea for one. Hart used to look good.... Sanchez will make them so I'll reserve judgement until he has and how he plays afterwards. As above, wouldn't swap him for anyone at the moment though!

edit - I like Ryan and wouldn't diss him now but there's no arguing we look much better with Sanchez in goal.

Why timewaste we we are sniffing a second goal?

Having watched the claim approximately 2000 times now, it strikes me that most keepers would be punching that.
The ball is in front of him, so he has to claim and bring the ball back in to safety.

Do we think Sanchez has a natural preference to catch rather than punch?

Or am I talking shit?
fairly likely as I know even less about goalkeeping than I do about football generally.

Nobody on the Rochdale or FGR forums have a bad word to say about him. I was under the impression he wasn't good at FGR? ???

He started off well at FGR, and they were really enthusiastic about him.

However, just as we've seen him making coming and making an excellent claim in the clip in this thread, when he was at FGR he was younger and his judgement wasn't as good; he also came out to try and claim too many that he couldn't actually get to, resulting in too many penalties. They went off him a bit then!

Which is exactly why young players go out on loan, make mistakes at another club, learn from them and come back a much better player.

I just don't understand why he's moved if he's not going to get anymore game time there than he does here. And judging by Arsenal's last game where their keeper was sent off, he isn't.

If you were a player, would you rather not be included in the match-day squad at Brighton or be on the bench for Arsenal (and likely play in their Europa League games)?

Me: I leaped off the sofa, punched the air and went "****ing YES, Bobby", causing my snoozing cat to jump off his beanbag in considerable alarm.

My wife was not present in the room during much of the second half. I was explaining to her at tea tonight just how special the move and build up to the goal was. And she said 'what about the second goal?', 'What second goal?' I asked. 'I'm sure I heard you shouting and jumping around twice'. 'No' I replied ' that was....etc'
