Rape of Hastings, Sussex
This.

Do you remember when John Major decided to galvanise the hearts and minds of the electorate by introducing the concept of 'back to basics'? Old fashioned decency and morality that, at the same time, implied the other parties were not decent or moral. Then it transpired there was a conga of tory MPs hanging out the back of, if not each other (Edwina), then their 16 year old 'research assistant'.

Now, back to basics was a pointless and desperate bit of hubris, and parts of the tory media did try to overlook the hypocrisy and defend 'adults' 'enjoying' each others' parts in the 'privacy' of the back of their own car (while the wife was in doors). But in the end it contributed to the general stink of a party that was (for quite a long time) finished.

The current situation is different. 'Stay at home' is a clear and meaningful and understood instruction. I do understand that a small element of society still believes in the superiority and absolute right of their lords and masters to do as they see fit, and revel in the idea they are being led by Supermen to whom the rules under which the rest of us operate do not apply. No doubt in medaevil times they would willingly submit to droit du seigneur. However most of the rest of us don't appreciate being ****ed over and mocked for our subservience.

By his actions, Cummings is mocking those who followed his rules. It is that simple.

Back to basics was brilliant! David Mellor, the Chelsea shirt and 'Toe job to no job' headline, Stephen 'Nobber' Norris having extra marital affairs with 3 different women at the same time, Stephen Milligan MP found dead wearing women's underwear, another married MP went on a holiday with 20 year old male when the age of consent was still 21, Neil Hamilton, Johnathan Aitken.................Non stop. I loved the 90's!

Do you remember the resulting Viz character - Baxter Basics MP. Happy days. :lolol:

Calm down, ladies....
I am just expressing an opinion, the process of which is to be encouraged in a land of supposed free-speech, surely?
Now you two, don't be an absolute mob.

Says, you!!
Opinion masquerading as fact.
Waving you moderator PR!ck again, to make an unarguable point, I see

Nice abuse. I'll bear that in mind while I find out who you used to be.

Unelected? FACT
Unsackable? Up to now, FACT
Mendacious? FACT

People can probably make their own minds up about the rest though. The Church of England and the Daily Mail don't agree with you though. That's quite some corner you're in.

Awww, just when I was inwardly impressed by thinking you had absorbed the point I had expressed ( admittedly, perhaps too directly) about the absolute need for moderator responsibility and neutrality, ..indeed a kind of referee's charter towards fair play, ....and you go and write that???
I was wrong ...
see how easy that was?
Ho hum

Hu Camus is deeply is a deeply unpleasant new poster. Is it Looney's new account?

Well I would guess it was someone who in late 2018 got caught out saying something so stupid that they decided a new account would be less embarrassing :lolol:

Why else would you hide behind a second account ?

This Government are either totally incompetent or they’re just winding us up.

On a day when their integrity is being called into question, by even their most vociferous supporters ( my MP Tim Loughton has called for Cummings to go) they put Gavin Williamson up for the morning media fest.

Gavin Williamson, a man sacked as Secretary of State for Defence for lying.

I know it’s a pretty poor pool of talent, but, surely, they could find one of them who wasn’t sacked for deceit?

Sacked for refusing to resign - after 'strong suspicion' that he had leaked details from a confidential national security meeting ( about Huawei infrastructure ).

No problem, though. He is now Education Secretary.

Just shows how far things have been allowed to downwardly drift that we're expected to somehow take these spineless mediocrities seriously

David Mellor, standing outside his home, talking to reporters after he had been caught out.. "As you can imagine, this isn't my happiest wedding anniversary" lol.

So true. What we really need is people of truth, clarity, and utmost probity. Perhaps we could invite Dawn Butler, Lord Mandleson, and David Lammy into a Government of National Unity, with Malicester Camp-Bell as 'communications guru' to assist.
Plus ca change

Years ago, the saying was that if there's a scandal:

- with Conservative, it's always about sex.

- with Labour, it's always about money.

Really?
So when were you down the pub?

:lolol: Before lock-down, of course. This madness has become so normal its starting to scare me.
I've been off work so long I've developed a scouse accent.
