I really hope there’s something in this. Very decent player and exactly the right type of attacker I feel we need to sign with pace and who can play centrally or wide, interchangable and fluid alongside Maupay.

The fact Naylor confirms it suggests this is real.

Question is whether this is a buy for next season or now.

Well seeing as he might well be the player we need to keep us up it would be a pretty daft move to buy him for that sort of money and loan him back. Daft idea imo and not very likely

But yes he’ll almost certainly chose Wolves over us anyway.

Correct, if he is deemed good enough we need him now. Next season may well be too late.

Would be a good signing and price about right for a Champion's League playing forward, in January. Good to add some East Asian to our current West Asian bias.

The squad is getting pretty bloated and I imagine this kind of signing if comes off would bump the wage cap up. Along with resigning some players we must be getting to the stage where we need to offload some permanent deals.

Everton and Leicester also showing interest according to today’s Argus.

It was a fun rumour while it lasted

We seem to be trying to assemble a pretty young team at the moment. It’s a smart way to operate as it obviously increases potential resale value and also means we can hopefully have a nucleus of a team that sticks together for years.

We could realistically start next season with Connolly, White, Molumby, Alzate, Hwang, Maupay, Bernardo, Bissouma, Trossard & Webster being key squad players, all of them 25 or under. Not a bad return when you consider we had the oldest average squad in the Prem last season.

Bit concerned there’s very little press about us and lots about Wolves / Everton / Leicester who are all better sides than us if we’re honest. Although the fact Naylor confirms the interest and allegedly Potter has been to see his reps (does he even do this? And when?!) fills me with a little more confidence.

Is it possible that Potter went during the last international break? I guess Salzburg isn’t a million miles away so there and back in a day is a genuine possibility, or his representatives flew here? I’d understand if Potter had been to visit the player but just the representatives seems odd.

To be fair on BG he’s been very disappointing defensively so far.

However, I do think he’ll improve next season.

Hard to believe that our goal difference is only -5 with such a liability in defence

Good that he’s offset this with three goals of his own too

I don’t get the slagging off of Webster in a team whose style leaves the defence much more exposed than it was last season when every game started with “don’t concede” as the mantra, with almost no intent to score, other than a breakaway, until we were 2-0 down.

Is Webster as good as I hoped ..... not yet.

Is Webster as bad as some on here would like to claim.... god no.

He has made some mistakes, but also he has done some very good things as well, it’s a big step up and he is playing in a position where our style will occasionally expose him and his mistakes often punished.

Certainly doesn’t give the ball away or make as many mistakes as Stephens or Propper but because of his position on the pitch has far more criticism when he makes an error.

of I remember rightly when we signed trossard the main reason he signed for us is that potter went over and spoke to him face to face
