Can you imagine if we had got an accidental last minute equaliser :nono:

:lolol:

I agree we didn't deserve it, so going to play a replay would not have done us any favour this year, we are still in transition and we move on, the Premier League has to be our priority.

As much as I don't like to admit it, we really aren't a bigger enough club to have a great 2nd string and we are too big to get excited about giant-killing, so the FA Cup does not mean much to me in our present situation.

Again you have to ask, was it why Hughton had such a god awful run in the second half of last season???

Brighton manager Graham Potter told BBC Sport:

"Credit to Sheffield Wednesday, they deserve to go through.

We huffed and puffed but our second-half performance was disappointing. It was not a classic game of football but we need to do better.

"It would've been nice to have had a better performance and a victory. We wanted to win the game so we're disappointed.

"We set out to win and we didn't so we're disappointed. The only thing we can do is learn from it."

Naylor quoting him as saying “I wouldn’t say a lack of effort”. Think he’s very generous, it looked like lack of effort leading to sloppy play for many. But guess he can’t be too critical in public

I was one of the poor saps who had to suffer that. There were some OK individual performances (Ali J seemed keen when he came on) but many of the players seemed not to care throughout the game, were slow, and made very poor decisions. Stephens had a really poor game, and Balogan (someone who should be trying to show his skills) had a very poor game. Suspect some may have made their last appearance in a Brighton shirt.

There seemed to be a lot of people attending their first game (or maybe making a rare foray to a match) - I can't work out why some had such difficulty trying to understand the row and seat number on a ticket, and how that equates to the physical seat in the stadium - and Barber must be annoyed that this potential new audience saw such a poor display.

The game was so bad I forgot about this. Rare visit to the ESL. The amount of families walking through busy stand all holding hands to form a human chain, women happily pushing into the kiosk queues and all round experience of people seemingly never been out before was irritating

Also tiny men’s toilets down the south stand end, which you’d think given it’s a stand full of kids would make sense to make them bigger. Went to go to the toilet on half time whistle and only got back on 50th minute

Never again

Individually many of them do ok when individually dropped into a well functioning 1st team, clearly though they are unable to affect the team when it’s playing poorly. Surprised by Stephens as he should be the lead candidate for that but maybe not interested for some reason. Joke of a performance

This. Two women’s toilets and one men’s - WTF.

I didn't go but when I think of the memories of last season - winning at B'muff, the replay win over WBA making me feel better after a health scare the night before, beating Derby with Ashley Cole scoring, the incredible Millwall tie and the day out at Wembley. It's a bit of a sickener but there's no distractions now and securing Premier League football for next season is Potter's plan.

I'll still watch some of the cup matches but it's not the same. I hope an unexpected team wins it like West Ham.

We were not at races, however, people leaving after 80 minutes and WSL reminiscent of a crèche is totally unacceptable.

It surprised me how strong that line up was and let's be honest one that should of beaten a championship side but most didn't turn up for whatever reasons. If attitude wasn't right or desire wasn't there then we have big problems.
I am so pissed off about that performance, all I can say is it should HAVE beaten a championship side FFS. [emoji14]

Naylor still an arse then. Radio Sussex and 5live both commented on a lack of desire, lazy strolling around, heads elsewhere, a lack of effort. Other than Maupay.

Where can I complain about the dads who took their young daughters into the Gent's Loo's in the Upper North Stand

The game was absolute gash by the way :moo:

a galaxy far far away
Hopefully MrPotter has learnt a lot from this.
Schelloto - Not good enough.
Bong - Not good enough.
Balogun - Not good enough.
Webster - Getting there but needs to practice passing.
Stephens - Needs to speed up.
Gross - Needs to speed up.
Potter - Why do I keep starting with one striker and bring a 2nd on at ½ time?
Badly missed Dunk, Burn, Mooy & Propper.
Apart from that I thought we were ok.[emoji849][emoji849]

Stephens and Gross aren't going to speed up and Websters passing isn't going to significantly improve
