Yes.
Edward Heath, John Major, David Cameron and Theresa May, fabulous weren't they.
And then you have Margaret Thatcher, the most devisive PM we have ever had, split the country in two and finally got thrown out by her own party.
But due to sinking a ship she is probably your hero.
Labour in the 70's was not great but that was over 50 years ago, today we are still led by incompetent clowns and they are Conservative and we have just suffered 9 years of unnecessary austerity.

no it wasn't:
49 years at most 40 years when thatcher got in

That's why I said "Tatton". Neil Hamilton had a majoirty of over 22,000. Martin Bell beat him by 11,000. That's a 33k swing. In the situation outlined in the post I replied to it would simply be Boris v The Rest with no fridges to hide in.

There are a few Tory seats such as Christchurch (Palace country) where they a huge majority such as 70%.

Isn't the Christchurch MP (up to today anyway) the guy who voted against banning upskirting based on some ancient procedural small print? If so I'd probably rather have Boris. At least he's an open and admitted pervert

I think this is irrelevant. The Tories would be like a hungry bag of rats, they’d all start going for each other if the head rat was decapitated.

Gove would make sure that Boris did not come back. He has stabbed him in the back before and would do again without a moments hesitation, it could land him the PM job.

Or Corbyn & Sturgeon win. Seconds until we have an idea!

But won’t more companies and entrepreneurs, who do currently pay the full whack of UK company and personal taxes, take the lead of those founders, by basing their operations and/or personal tax arrangements in a lower taxes regime?

The evidence is, that they do. When Hollande was elected in 2012 on a socialist ticket with high tax rates, we gained the business of countless French business people who moved or ‘moved’ to the UK. Some took residence here, but commuted to NE France for part of the week to run their business affairs.

So, as a nation, do we just tug the old forelock to big business and let them ride roughshod over workers rights and tax laws in order to encourage them to continue to trade in,and exploit, the UK ? or do we come up with a policy that is more equitable ? Can things go on as they are with a slowly decomposing infrastructure and society ? Brexit will accelerate a race to the bottom in order for us to " Compete" in the world trading market, so, when Boris's empty promises of investment in Nurses, Police Officers and new Hospitals ( 6/20/40 ?) are shown up for the lies they are, what do we do then ?

Boris’s gamble paid off. Half of NSC goes to bed early after all.

Large majorities are really bad for democracy. As someone who cares about nature, this could be the green light for the fox hunting wnkrs. Johnson can stop all that with humility and the spending promised in this campaign..

The country seems to have voted for a lying , duplicitous piece of shit, what have we become when we allow this to happen ?.

Either outcome will not be good for this country tonight, imho. In hindsight, we were far more centrist and moderate from 1997 to 2016. I preferred that in every way. Then political zealots with a blinkered take on everything, somehow managed over a period, to take control of both main parties. Not a uniquely UK thing, citing the rise of Trump.

I totally agree.

I do see eye to eye with you on a lot of stuff, but differ about how to get there.

Ironically where you mention “race to the bottom”, that’s exactly what McCluskey, Corbyn and McDonnell have said about the EU/EC/EEC for 45 years. Handing all the aces to a big business club. They say that struggles in this country gave us all our employment rights, not the EU.

I'd suggest you re-read my post and come up with something constructive, of course we can and will have another election, we do this regularly if you haven't noticed.
