So, it really is (for you) all about Laws being made (that you don't seem affected by) being made by non-British people, most of which are 'good' Laws and we don't even have to follow all of them?

For that you would choose to weaken this country as a whole, financially and culturally? How very patriotic of you.

It doesn’t take long to get down to the real reasons does it.
He doesn’t trust foreigners. How predictably basic.

If I was in Boris shoes I would be on the phone to Merkel and Macron plus a couple of others and ask for their assurance that they will vote against an extension and it made known that will happen, and if so I would suggest that I put the deal back to parliament on Tuesday. It will then be take this deal or no deal and so will probably win the day.

And I was Merkel or Macron I’d remember all the arrogant comments Boris has made towards both countries in the past 3 years, tell him to do one, and sit back and watch him struggle.

Which is exactly why they will grant an extension

retain his dignity

Sorry, but I only just saw this. Please - whatever it was that you were drinking/ingesting/inhaling etc last night that made you think that Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson has dignity, let alone the ability to retain it, could you let me know what it is because I really want to try it?

As well as making you think that Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson has dignity and the ability to retain it, does it make you unable to breathe when listening to the orchestral sequence in 'A Day In A Life' by The Beatles as well by any chance?

It does appear to be the case, yes, despite the 'new and enlightened' persona he's adopted recently.

Quite. And the little tantrum he’s having ;
“Nobody is listening to me!! I’m a nice person!! Why won’t anybody listen to me”!!!!

Cos you’re a ballbag.

Labour would be in a much better place if KS was leader
The ultimate boss move would be for Johnson to call an election only for the next day Corbyn to cee'd power to Kia.

Your MP can propose legislation.

/Conversation.

Mine can't he's a fascist **** who doesn't give a shit about the majority, he just nods and votes when told. Why would he do anything else, he's virtually unopposed in Adur and just has to tow the line and rake in the cash. I'm just astounded at how many clearly ****ing stupid people locally vote for him. There isn't a better example for proportional representation and compulsory voting in the land.

It is basic and has been for a thousand years. He, I and millions of others choose to have our laws made in this country, for better or for worse. If they're for worse we can vote those politicians out of Westminster.
Remainers prefer to have them made by an increasingly power-hungry, corrupt, undemocratic organisation on the continent. Yet you think you have the moral high ground.

Labour have just sat back, pointed out the pitfalls in the various deals then watched the Tories destroy themselves.
But despite all the perceived and real negatives of this and the previous Conservative govt... Labour still trail miserable in almost any poll you care to examine.

You realize that you don't have to be British to be an MP?

You can't see that I want lawmakers to be elected by the people who will live under the laws that they make, and I said nothing about where they are from.

Why do you seem to want to argue that I have a problem with people who are not British? My mother isn't British. I am only half British.

What if the only thing I care about is what I said I care about? Lawmakers being elected by the people. What if that is where I stand?

Make an argument against my point of view, by all means. & I will listen to it respectfully.

A thousand years? Are you sure? Might want to check your facts. Yes, I know those pesky fact, eh!
Morals? No dear. It’s nothing to do with morals. It’s about having a larger body of people from varied backgrounds having input.
Not an unchecked Tory government de-regulating the country and giving tax breaks to the richest of their chums.
Which laws don’t you like? Or is it just any made by foreigners? Not fussy?

You don’t care about the specific laws as long as they are generated in Westminster and not Brussels. It’s all about the principle of it. I get it.
That’s a ****ing ludicrous viewpoint and marks you out as somebody who will cut off their nose to spite his face.

You would rather a law generated in Parliament that removes parental leave in the workplace over a law that guarantees parental leave, generated in Brussels.

Precisely. Because we can change a law generated in Parliament if we don't like it. We can't change a law in Brussels if we don't like it.

I am defending the right to decide to guarantee parental leave. You are defending having no right to do anything about it if someone in future were to remove parental leave.

Your argument is that having no say is fine, because what we have no say over is how we want it to be today, and having a say might mean it could be changed for the worse. That argument only holds true while things are as we want them to be today. If the EU is dominated by "right wing corporatists" in 10 or 15 years time and they strip away workers rights, you won't be able to do anything about it.

I'm arguing for a permenant and perpetual mechanism through which the people will always be the ones in charge, no matter who might take up positions of power. You are arguing against that.

It doesn't matter. I've made my point.

And you have made yours.
