Bad memory and absolutely no comparison. The game was late August when people are on holiday hence the lower crowd.

Ok so three youngsters isn't a majority. We still lost, and it was the second round not the third.

Three is not a majority, the team selection last night was arrogant and disrespectful imo. We haven’t won at home for so long that to play a team that had no chance of winning was fleecing the paying customers, none of whom expected us to throw the game before a ball was kicked.

I doubt we’d have sold 1000 tickets if the fans knew we would be playing a team who had virtually no chance against a strong Premier League team.

Look forward to seeing the FA cup crowd if we get a home game

So, who are you blaming? Hughton, Potter, Barber, Ashworth or Bloom?

My son thought the Villa fans were amazing, so loud in the last hour of the match, such passionate support in contrast to deathly silence from the soft southerners.

Funny that, a team leading and outclassing opposition had ALL the support.

Even when winning we dont make much noise in the carabao cup games. This happens because the fans that bothered to go we are spread all over the stadium mixed in with people going for the first time. They pay £10 £15 for their ticket and make comments like that. If the grounds half empty it has to be done that way but it will destroy the atmosphere. We made more noise that that at Newcastle with 1000 fans.

I’m not blaming anyone, just saying it was a massive cock up by the club and a lack of respect to the paying fans to throw a game

Hughton used to start with Stephens and finish with Propper pretty much resting them both. But then he hardly played any U23's, I feel like we went way too much the other way. Arsenal put out a really young team but they had more experienced midfield players out there than we did to keep their shape and let the kids play into the game with more confidence alongside experienced players. I didnt watch the Liverpool or Chelsea games but suspect they did something similar.

Four of the five names are the club.

We all have different opinions, glad you enjoyed it and thought it was fine to play a cup game where the club showed zero ambition.

I am very pleased I wasn’t able to make the game in retrospect

Have to add though that I have loved the way we have approached every other game this season

That's me finished with cup games now. I'm really looking forward to trouncing Chelsea with our well rested squad.

Pathetic display and Potter can't afford to take liberties like that. I haven't read his after-match comments but I hope a sincere apology was issued. Chucking away a major cup competition like that was a slap in the face for all the fans that turned up last night.

No, we didn't, that's true, but where else would you get an evening's entertainment for 10 quid?

Totally irrelevant because as it was listed under 1st team fixtures most people will have accepted an d expected 3 or perhaps 4 untried players to add to the fringe first team players and may even have accepted the U23s team to start with 5 first team established on the bench. The fact that he couldnt field that mix is not his fault, we are lead to believe, but it doesnt alter the fact that it was a serious let down.

It was a serious let down for some, but not others.
After all, I got my loyalty points.

I do not need loyalty points as I dont go to away games. I wonder what the crowd would have been if it had been leaked that 8 U23s would be starting and the bench consist of 7 more. We would have seriously struggled to get to 5 figures but what it has done is told me that after 70+ years I shall not go to another home cup tie.unless it is priced at U23 levels.

Arrogant and disrespectful! In case you hadn't realised:
-- we've got a small squad (21 or 22 now that Andone and Locadia has gone)
-- we've got a number of injuries and illnesses. Nine, according to the local paper, see:
Glenn Murray (ankle), Neal Maupay (knee), Leandro Trossard (groin), Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Leon Balogun and long-term long-term absentee Jose Izquierdo (knee) are all ruled out while concerns remain over Solly March (hamstring), Bernardo and Ezequiel Schelotto (knee).

Add Stephens to that list, and Bissouma suffered a mild setback. You'd be dim and daft if you were to risk further players in a competition that we've got no chance of winning.

Seem to remember so many posters championing Potter as “he plays the youngsters”

Burton were in last year's semi final. If they hadn't drawn Man City in the semi. If you get to the final then it's a one off battle. Play the percentage. That's what happened in the FA Cup last year. It really wasn't taken too seriously until you see Millwall in the QF . Then have a crack at It. Don't ever totally surrender. You can be flippant about the contest but without being arrogant about it. This wouldn't have happened in years gone by.

Anyone who uses the word 'gotten' who isn't American is immediately discredited.

'Gotten' was originally as common in Britain as it is now in the USA but died out and now only survives in a few cases such as 'forgotten' and 'ill-gotten' - a shame, as is the disappearance of any useful usage. So anyone using 'gotten' could just be getting medieval.
