If Boris is manouvred into agreeing to delay Brexit till January (apparently the current cross party rebel plan), Farrage will win lots of seats. That said, I'm not sure the EU will allow another delay. Indeed, do we trust Boris to seek an extension before a GE even if this is what parliament votes? I'm wondering whether the EU might simply declare us out on Oct 31. The more I think about it, unless the UK government calls Brexit off (indefinitely) before Oct 31, we will 'hard Brexit' come what may. What can parliament do to make Boris stop this? Hmmm....the way it is beginning to look to me now is there will be a GE after we crash out, and Boris will win.

Now I'm sure many on here had things they didn't like about Theresa May, David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, John Major, Margaret Thatcher, James Callaghan, Harold Wilson, Ted Heath, Sir Alec Douglas-Home and Harold Macmillan.

But Johnson has certainly ushered in a new type of politics for the first time in my lifetime.

This is the first time I have actually seen a complete incompetent in charge of the country

Agreed. No Deal means the start of 20+ years of painful negotiation, and the Brexit talk will never stop.

No Brexit and we can all forget about it, shut up and move on.

We were told there would be a deal, we were told it would be the easiest deal in history, we were told the UK can have its cake and eat it.

The Tory right are now telling us Brexit is no deal and we knew about this all the way along, that is a lie and they know it

People quick to forget that the SNP will probably take 40+ seats in an election.

The only way out of this mess is for the Labour/Lib Dems/SNP/Caroline Lucas to take us out of the EU with the softest of Brexits that honours the referendum. Not ideal, and the No Deal contingent on here will be most displeased, but the current situation is far from ideal either.

1. Soft Brexit with Customs Union (or call it 'backstop')
2. 'No deal', economic disaster and border in NI
2. 2nd Referendum

5 Live this morning talking to Welsh farmers.
They were in favour of No Deal Brexit in order to get some closure.
48% tariff on their product meant "well we just won't spend any money for a year or so".

One said:-

'You can't take No Deal off the table as that's part of the negotiation, and will seriously weaken our position'.
'But what would No Deal mean for you?'
'Oh it would be catastrophic'.

I'm of the view that Johnson is like a cornered rat: dangerous.

Watched the debate last night. By no means a fan of the Tories, I was nevertheless very impressed with some of the 'Tory rebel' speeches. This is something honourable about throwing your career away for a principle (esp one that I happen to agree with). I have to say that there were also one of two relatively 'pragmatic' speeches against the motion that made valid points.

Conversely ,Rees-Mogg and Johnson were simply dreadful; a national embarrassment. Eton (credo: 'effortless superiority') has an awful lot to answer for.

I agree there's still a long way to go, but the EU won't force us out.

If we go 'no deal' and blow our brains out economically they, as our nearest neighbours, will have one hell of a dry cleaning bill. I'm afraid they are not stupid (which is where the leave plan all started to come apart )

I reckon (1) can be done by throwing the DUP under the bus and having a customs boundary in the Irish Sea. No customs union for the rest of the UK.

Add EFTA membership and payment for EEA access.

We'll end up with more and tastier cake than Switzerland - and we can have it all to ourselves and eat it many times per day as well.
