The whole idea in Östersund was to sign players who had been considered talented, but lost the plot along the way. Ken Sema and Saman Ghoddos were both considered average Swedish tier 2 players, now Sema is in Watford and Ghoddos a key player in Amiens (Ligue 1). Modou Barrow was found in the third division and within a year he had debuted for Swansea in Premier League.

Curtis Edwards was thrown out of Middlesbrough for bad behaviour and quit football before he ended up in "Ytterhogdals IS", a climbing Swedish lower division team that only signs rejected British talents in order to give them a last chance of pro football. Östersund was well aware and Edwards was signed and became a key player in the Europa League thangy. Convicted gang ex-criminal Boyd Mwila captained the team. Orphan Sam Mensiro at the right back. Fouad Bachirou was found in the Scottish second tier and is now considered one of the best if not the best player in Malmö FF.

Jamie Hopcutt came from Tadcaster Albion, David Accam - later Ghanian international - was found in Evesham United.. the most remarkable with Potters success in Östersund was definitely that it was a team of complete nobodies - no exceptions - that had a sickening 90% pass completion ratio in Allsvenskan and beat giant teams out in Europe.

Great post.

That’s really insightful, thanks.

I'd love to hear our boo-boys reacting to a convicted gang criminal passing the ball sideways.

Is the feeling that it'll be either Nesyri or Maupay? Surely not both.

Surely, if we bought both it would mean at least one of our big money buys from last season being pushed out, presumably Andone or AJ or both, as Locadia seems to have earned a place in the Potter set up. That wouldn't reflect well on the recruitment team.

Both. I'd take that swap now.

We had a 23 man squad last season, and Izzy is injured.

Plenty of room if need be.

The Albion is probably waiting until the pound moves up a little so the exchange rate is better. When it comes to millions, every cent counts.
That'll end well with Bombastic Boris in charge.

You’d like to think Tony’s a bit shrewder than that and has already squirrelled away a few squillion euros somewhere for the inevitable ‘bargain buy from europe’
