"All we've ever said is we will support Chris in every way we can in every transfer window and match to match. That hasn't changed during this period."

Did i miss a transfer in the January window???

So it looks like PB is going spend big this summer to get Hughton out of jail.

The pressure really will go up a LEVEL if we are scrapping around in the bottom 5 in November.
Both could be up for the chop.

Guys stop dreaming of Spurs and dig deep for the Albion, putting the CUSTOMER first is actually a good thing.

Test of mettle time.

To be honest, this rubbish about people who want Hughton being "thickos" is just pure ignorance. Hopefully no one on this board is here to support Hughton specifically. We all support the club. Some people, arguably very conservative and pragmatic people, want Hughton to stay. Other fans who support the club think he's taken us as far as he can and that we will continue to be underwhelmed by the football our team plays whilst he's the manager. Whichever side you fall on doesn't make you negative per se, it just means that your view of who can improve our football club as manager differs. That's a perfectly reasonable differing viewpoint.

Well said. I've withdrawn from the 'debate' having seen some of the pretty nasty/daft stuff written ('thicko', 'disloyal', 'go watch xxxx', 'who should we get? Pulis?', 'maybe we sign Messi' etc etc)

Fact is BHA will be around a long time after CH departs and when he does go it'll probably be because he's not producing results. It's part and parcel of football. It's easy in hindsight of course but in the meantime I do try and respect everyone's opinion and although I have a view it's pretty uninformed (as is everyone's) and I'm very open to changing that view if a good counter argument is presented

Out of interest what is the % of promoted sides who survive the first two seasons?
I'm guessing about 40%

Not my stats, but I found this on reddit,

60% of promoted sides are relegated from the PL within the first 2 years.

83% of teams that are able to avoid relegation in the first 2 years go on to become established PL sides (that is secure at least 5 years in the Premier League).

Come on let’s have them, I am genuinely interested in how many mins the newbies got early doors, but only Premier League games thanks, not whatever the League Cup is called these days.

You’re not going to like this......under 23 players I believe, you know those ones that break through into the first team after a couple of months

Yes I know Icy, I just knew Thunderbolt would be the one to mention them, Chailey was next in line!

There are apprenticeships granted, but FFS Hughton lets see some of this young talent before they are old and rusty.

Minutes before October:
Bissouma: 4 starts, 2 subbed on, 1 bench - 384 minutes
Montoya: 6 starts, 1 bench - 90 minutes
Bernardo: 1 start 6 on the bench - 350 minutes
Ali J: 0 starts, 6 subbed on, 1 on the bench - 98 minutes

Have you got the mins for Bernardo and Montoya mixed up Chailey?

If that is true then it shows just how important it was to stay up this year.

The issue I have is that fans aren't saying:
'I wonder if there's a better option, someone who can take the club further'
'I think it would be great if we could attract xxxxx, as I believe he'll be able to do better with the squad we have'.

Instead they say things like:
'He's got to go'
'He's lost the dressing room'
'He's been found out'
and other dull cliches that aren't based on reality.

It's fine to think there might be a better option, and offer sensible comment on who that could be, with evidence of what they've achieved with a similar budget, but if you start just talking shit, people are going to comment on that.

As things stand, he's beaten the odds (60/40) by keeping us up for the first two seasons, despite a relatively low budget. If you know of better managers that you think would want to come here, by all means say so. Maybe Wagner - he did well didn't he.

Wow. From this, you're expecting NSC posters to not only know when is the right time to move a manager on, but also who the right replacement will be. In short, you expect them to be privy to the same amount of information as Bloom, Barber and perhaps one or two others on the board. You're setting the bar too high.
