I personally think stress will do 100 x more damage to your body and soul than drinking too much

What's the Muslim take on ecstasy then .

I think it has something to do with a vest and a ripcord.

The initial high involves 72 nubile sawts just aching for your entrance.

I guess the comedown is that these lovelies in time will turn in to dry joyless old puritanical bints like Sally Davies.........times 72.

It's enough to turn you to suicide.........

Yes you will. Ex-smokers are always the most judgmental :)

I still have the odd about - averaging about 1 a week maximum - so many will say I'm not an ex smoker

Won't judge though even when I stop completely - nothing worse than people preaching IMO...

It's only guidance and we've all got to go someway. Problem is so many diseases are treatable and extending life until much later and it all costs money of course. It's utterly unsustainable for people to carry on being cured at such expense, public purse can't manage. A massive dilemma for politicians therefore. We take no responsibility and yet expect life saving treatment when serious illness occurs that can fortunately now be treated effectively when previous generations just, well, died. It's also almost impossible to say an illness is due to such vices. We all know plenty of fit healthy types who suddenly had a heartattack, developed cancer etc. Bloody tough one this. Best discussed down the pub probably.

I'm surprised George Osborne allowed the CMO to issue this advice as it will potentially reduce tax receipts and lengthen people's lives.

I totally agree with you US. There's no account taken of WHY people take a drink and the likelihood that some do it to unwind or reduce stress, or even to spend a bit of time together.

This advice might mean a couple choose not to share a bottle of wine together on a Wednesday night. That might be the very glue that keeps a relationship on track - talking over problems, work issues, planning holidays etc

I like the drinking environment more in England than in the US. Definitely well under 7 pints of beer in the US and over that whenever I'm in Brighton
