Bridcutt to Derby

Brighton / Hove actually
He is far too one dimensional and predictable. I would expect every player on the pitch to have at least 1 or 2 goals in them each season. Until he starts knocking some in he is no more than average in today’s game. I am sure I will be corrected but I believe he has only had one shot on goal in the last 4 seasons.

If he can change his game and reinvent himself, he may have something in him, so it will be interesting how he progresses or not at Derby.

Not sure you can compare March to Bridcutt? Although I do agree, midfield is the one place where we're strong. Don't need him anymore, Kayal's better and Ince has the potential to be too.

I have to disagree, before he had his head turned by money and almost certainly Gus, Bridcutt was one of the best players ever in that postion to pull on an Albion shirt.

Yes, until the grass looked better on the other side and he couldn't be bothered to pull on that shirt and on that basis I'm a meh - prefer Kayal

Agreed. Lots of people letting his departure cloud what a player he was, absolute quality, other teams always used to pick him out as our best player too.

I don't disagree but I think this sour taste has also made some fans forget just how good he was for us...

Oh, definitely.

Don't get me wrong, Bridcutt is still one of the best players I've seen in the stripes. I still watch that .gif of him snaking out from three Newcastle defenders and giggle with unrestrained glee.

But he's still a **** for "not being in the right head-space" to play for us yet suddenly being fine to play for Sunderland a few weeks later.

Quality is one thing, decorum and respect is quite another and he showed little of either during his departure.

I hope that the people who say how good our midfield is are not left with egg on their faces. Will Crofts get back to what he was pre Norwich as he wasnt anywhere near that good during his 2nd spell pre injury.March Ince and JFC all have potential to be good and if that potential shows forth.we will have adecent midfield but if not ? So we are left with Kayal based on the last few weeks of the season I think that he will be the main man next season helped by Stephens.. Holla looked good when he arrived but tailed off so despite everybody saying our midfield is our strength I would like to see either an experienced DM or somebody like Elliott Bennett added to the midfield.

I partially agree with what your saying but I don't think a DM is the place to spend 2.5 million no matter how good Bridcutt was.
Crofts, ince, Holla, Stephens and Kayal can all do that job easily enough. We had the 6th best defence in the league somehow.
We struggled as we can not score and we did not exactly look threatening. 2 wide players an attacking AM and a CF would need to come 1st. LB is also a must. CB and RB will need addressing soon.

If spending that money made us more solid and allowed Kayal, Stephens etc to get forward and perhaps get 20 goals between them from midfield then the problem would be partially solved. I do however agree that strikers and left back are a more urgent need.but we are all hoping for a major overhaul and perhaps 5 or 6 incoming players.

Is POTS such a measure of ability as both Whing and Calderon won it on popularity not ability or being the best player.

In seasons where we are absolute shite, ability tends to go out of the window and popularity is more important. I remember the season Whing won it - it was fcking awful (Adams II?), and as for Calde last season, well the same applied. But let's not forget, in seasons where we are competitive, POTS has always been a good yardstick of ability.

I'm not sure the OP is suggesting we should've signing Buckley, I think he's trying to suggest that whilst we chase a winger from League One Derby are busy signing proven Championship and Premier League players. Weimann, Bent, Pearce and Bridcutt will massively improve any Championship team. I think that's what he was getting at anyway?

Totally agree, sure they choked, but looked v good most of the season, add their new signings in, all with prem experience, and not totally over the hill, I'd be very excited if I was a Rams fan. I want to feel excited about our signings, and as we need a lot more improvement than Derby did I'm a little surprised and disappointed that we haven't made any yet

our midfield is so slow and lacking creativity - its dull dull dull

We have no pace anywhere in the side have we? March is always injured and Lua Lua seldom gets into top gear these days without flinging himself to the ground. We need pace everywhere imo.

He was only quality in his 50 yard area in a typical poyet defensive system that often saw 7 players defending .He's a very limited player to be frank although he'll do o.k if that's what Derby want from him.
Maybe his best couple of years have been and gone???

Derby like to attack so bridcutt may well be exposed:wink:
