Another vote here for Shooters in Aldershot. I went to the cup game with a couple of Aldershot supporting mates so we ended up in there. Had just about had our first sip of our first pint when a load of Albion turned up outside and it kicked off big time. Fortunately there was a back door :)
did you smash it in ???
regards
DR

I had a beer in The Stags Head in Portslade Old Village before a game once. That was pretty rough.

The only things rough about that pub were the single-ply bog paper, the bald carpet and the bottom of the Kroney barrel.

A true gem of a pub, sadly now closed.

Every pub at an away game in the late 70's early 80's was as rough as f**k, i don't think I ever went in a decent one

This. I can't remember the names of many of them but there were some really, really grim boozers from that era

I remember seeing one pub in Shrewsbury that had 2 bouncers that looked like gypsies, they had a Rottwieler dog to give them a hand. We didn't even get within 10 yards of the pub door let alone ask to come in.

When our game against Walsall was postponed we tried to get into Villa Park for their game against WBA. They wouldn't sell us tickets so we ended up going in the Invincibles boozer next to the cop shop, turned out it was the place where all the banned Villa fans watch the home games on moody Sky. They weren't sure what to make of us at first but where fine in the end. The place had every single window boarded up.

I had the pleasure of going into a pub not far from the villa ground, can't think of the name but it had chalk boards on the urinal walls to stop the locals drawing on the walls. Every door had at least one or two punch holes in it as did some of the walls. It must have seen more punch ups than many a boozer.

Anyone stop in the Propeller just before the Purely way. Coming back from Bury to Haywards Heath we had 9 lads and one girl on our coach from the Bosun say no more.:catfight::rolleyes::shrug:

After match Drink!
Back in the mists of time this was the favourite drinking hole for the Battle of Britain pilots based at RAF Croydon (Croydon Airport). More recently a horrible shit-hole now demolished.

The surprise to me isn't that someone smashed you, more that you wondered past that place and thought yeah, I fancy a pint in there......a pub full of nutters. It's called something else now, Mavericks I think, but still probably best avoided.

I can confirm it is called Mavericks now. There is a cafe in the car park and I was the only punter a few months ago so was chatting to the owner of the cafe. Apparently the pub became available and no one wanted it so one of the soul crew has taken it on so I should imagine it's full of hospitality now.

I remember going to a pub in Plymouth, went to the bogs and when I came back, a couple of geezers (including the landlord) were rifling through my rucksack - that was one I left pretty sharpish

En route to Elm Park on the day they got promoted. Pub looked ok, bit down at heel, inside however it had a sense of lawlessness. It was like the Wild West. On one table a group were rolling and smoking joints alongside another group of lads that looked like would kick off at any moment.

That brings back memories. Are we talking about the one in Union street? If yes, I had to do a "drinks promotion" there on matelots pay day. Strippers and drag queen on show, and about fifty Royal Marines from Lympstone trying to drink the place dry. Recipe for disaster.

Fortunately, the main bouncer was a bloke called Mad Mick who was legendary in Plymouth. Apparently, rumour has it, he got kicked out of the Royal Marines for being too violent!! Not a big bloke but he had "the look - do not cross me". No one did.

The Hope Hotel along Southend seafront. Bizarre place that had a cheesy dj playing your typical "hi ho silver lining " type songs at 1pm in the afternoon!

Also along the road was the Forresters and its rough strippers !
