"No one" is a pretty small population of people, being a handful of saddo Palace fans who obsess over every detail of Albion's affairs. I really don't think anyone else in the big, wide footballing world gives two hoots about how some Brighton fans contrast their own club with another small-time outfit 90 miles along the coast.

Beyond that your point is largely valid of course. Two clubs who have been fortunate to have their operations largely subsidised by a wealthy benefactor. There are two key differences however:

- Brighton have traditionally enjoyed a larger following than Bournemouth. That may be just due to fluke of geography, as Bournemouth have Southampton just up the road, whereas the Albion have no local competition for supporters' attentions.

- We have been financed by a life-long fan from a family with very close connections to the club through multiple generations. Bournemouth's Russian owner, Maxim Demin, has absolutely no connection with the area nor the football club and is largely described as an "invisible man". I'll keep Tony Bloom if that's OK with you.

Yep but the key is that you are being massively subsidised by your chairman and living massively outside of your means. That's a great bit of luck and not that much different to us (although nowhere near to the same extent at the moment). Just don't get why so many of your fans think you are financially superior to everyone else !!

Well if we do go down we are in a much stronger position to come straight back up again. Also we have the infersctucture, one we get into the top flight, to stay there for a considerable amount of time.

May I just point out that it might be worth reading the posts beforehand ...just a thought

Well I think both sets of fans, from us, the 'small-time' outfit down the coast and yourselves are generally happy with where we are. Yourselves for the future, set up, crowds and facilities and us for how its going on the pitch etc etc..

I think it's good for us both to be doing well, hell yes even Saints being 2nd in the Prem all helps too and I hope Pompey get back up to this level soon too. But reading through a few (not that many) of these comments there's a definite hint of 'it's ok for us to get investment, but no one else is allowed to though'.

We're loving it at the moment - but if it all goes tits up, we'll just support them wherever and in whatever division we are in. We have our eyes well open on this one! (no bucket rattling, honest )

great retro badge mate...you need to get with it. As for facilities...we have brand new training facilities right outside the stadium, sure the ground is a bit cramped but the decision has been made to stay where we are, which im sure you would all appreciate as the alternative was an out of town site with sweet **** all nearby and a pain in the arse to get to... (ring any bells)

A few add ons and it will be a 18-20K ground...that will suit us, used to get attendances like that back in the day.

As for FFP...well im a cynic as well, none of us really have a scooby what the hell is going on behind the scenes..needless to say we're enjoying the ride/.

A few points I's like to comment on please...

- I dont understand how so many on here, claim to know so much about our finances and players wages...?
- The only people that think of AFCB v BHA asa 'derby' game are SKY...
- Re the comment below...

I am assuming Mr Bloom and his family, at some point, had to have no affiliation with the club? So does this mean that if Maxim Demin passes us down through his family, and in 20 years time, is a huge fan himself, with family members as lifelong fans also... we can then no longer be deemed to be bankrolled, and in the same position as your fortunate selves...?

I actually like Brighton, but some of the comments on this thread are just ridiculous... continually talking of the fact that because you have a sparkly stadium and incredible training facilities, you have this god given right to be better than us... and we're just tinpot... Laughable really when you look at the table...

Most AFCB fans realise we're punching well above our weight... We realise that we could fall foul of FFP, yet we are reassured by the men up top that we will meet the criteria for the coming year... and we will be increasing our stadium capacity sooner rather than later... We don't have this 'billy big bollox' chips on our shoulders, largely because we can't... for reasons tirelessly repeated in this thread...

I would have Eddie Howe in charge over anyone, and tbh, I am not too worried about being 'bankrolled' by Demin as I firmly believe he is here for the long haul... We're all LOVING the ride and witnessing some of the best football in our history right now...

Eddie Howe doesn't suffer fools, hence the reason he left last time... If he trusts Demin and won't say a bad word against him then that is good enough for me...

I hope you Brighton turn things around quick as you are a Championship side and I'd actually love to see you in the Prem... Good luck folks for the coming weeks...

PS. Not too keen on the redesign of our badge either... It was the last thing that Mitchell did before pissing off...

I wish we could stop judging certain teams as "tinpot". It just makes us look... er... tinpot.

Most clubs have some point in their history when they punch above their weight. We've had it too. Four years in the top flight and a cup final. It's why we love the game. There's always the hope. Why do we need to get so antsy when other teams happen to reach the crest of their wave? Bloody good luck to them*

Your point about AFCB V BHA and SKY thinking its a 'derby'
Did you see the Football League Show last night? Manish Bhasin referred to the match as a ' local derby '

Without trawling through all the posts ,has anyone actually said we are better than you !! ,because obviously not on the pitch as you are in a better position ,as you all seem so keen to tell us.The original post was would we swop with Bournemouth
And if my friend you find comments on here ridiculous and slightly unsavoury towards your team ,then may I politely steer you in the direction of your own fans forum where no doubt we have been ridiculed now and in the past by your fans.

That might be a bit of an exaggeration. I spoke to a well-placed contact at Bournemouth last Wednesday who said that they have talked in general terms about possible expansion, but there's nothing definite. The temporary stand that away fans are sometimes put in might be replaced with something bigger...

But you must see Brighton are up as being bankrolled ?!!

Of your 25m income 4.8m of it came from the Premier League central payouts. Your wages salaries, social security costs were 21m so that's 112% of non premier league income !!! You lost 14m which excludes interest payments of 8-10m pa that luckily you dont have to pay due to TB making the loans interest free. That's all fine but no one understands why you think you are better than Bournemouth !!

How any Palarse fan can come on our board and lecture us about football finances is a bloody joke........

Can only say what we have been told by the chairman... We have been told that the possibility of moving elsewhere is very unlikely now, despite having looked at several possibilities, and that the club are now looking into expansion solutions of the current ground...

IMO, we cannot continue to progress as a club, without it...

surlyseagull , I think you'll find there very nature of being called 'tinpot' and 'belonging in the third tier' hints that 'some' folk on here feel BHA are a bigger (which I can't argue with) and better club...

At the end of the day... who gives a shit about all the window dressing... It's what happens on the pitch that counts...

I know many on NSC are so precious so I'm going so don't worry

But I honestly wasn't lecturing just stating the facts (source; your accounts YE2013). Take a look at them sometime and please please someone ask Barber for a breakdown of the Administration & Operational costs. It's the most important question but no one seems to know the answer !!!!!
