It's a shame that one's who moan always shout the loudest. I'm sure that will have me down as someone who worships the club but what exactly are the club supposed to do? If they issued a statement with everything that happened, they'd be accused by people like you of lacking class. I genuinely wonder why you (and you're not alone) bother supporting the club. You obviously don't trust a word the club say!

One decent coach. You ask the players about the other - he hardly spoke to them.

Brian Clough didn't do much talking to the players either, that didn't stop him being one of the finest coaches this country has ever seen.

Why is it taking this long? I've cut and pasted Barber's last year's Post-Gus exit statement in case they haven't got it to hand, just needs a bit of tweaking and change the year from 2013 to 2014:

"In the meantime, please rest assured that the football club continues to function entirely as normal for the time of year. In some cases, staff from all areas of the club are taking well-earned breaks and holidays, while others continue to sell season tickets, apply finishing touches to a new club membership scheme, meet our post-season sponsor commitments, and finalise plans for our pre-season (as is also normal, we started this work well before the end of last season). Our summer training camp will be in Spain (details to follow soon). And, as is customary, we will be playing a combination of friendly matches away from home against local teams, and also expect to play a home friendly at the Amex on the weekend of 27 July. We will confirm our full schedule for pre-season as soon as possible. Over the course of the summer, we plan to announce a series of new sponsorships, while finalising long-term deals for our stadium catering services and technical partner/kit manufacturer. Finally, with Financial Fair Play rules in mind, we must continue to look for ways of reducing our operational cost base to ensure our club is as efficient as possible and to maximise our football budget for the season ahead.

"Thank you for your continued patience, support, and loyalty. It is very much appreciated by everyone here."

Great stuff

Have you read "Damned United?", great book.

It is a great book, I also enjoyed Michael Sheen's performance as Clough in the film.

Peter Taylor would do the talking, put his arm round the players etc while Clough would put the fear of God into them. Too much talking only diluted the clarity of his message. A management style very much of it's time i.e. before agents and Sky.

Liverpool also did something similar in the era of Bob Paisley and the boot room.

The point being that you should never blindly believe what the club are telling you. Always question everything they say - even Tony Bloom.

Are you joking? He's earned his stripes with me. He can do and say whatever he wants and I'll back him, certainly before any player/manager/coach!
Look down the football pyramid and choose someone else! We're in safe hands you nutter!

Agreed, blindly is key though. Examining a club statement and coming to the conclusion you agree is not the same as blindly accepting everything we're told - context is key.

No, Westdene Seagull is right. History tells us we should ALWAYS scrutinise the club's hierarchy. It doesn't mean we should distrust them on everything, but being complacent or blind to a problem is what leads clubs down the wrong path. The fact Albion fans do pay attention and fo ask questions is probably the main reason the club is still around today.

You really are becoming like Husty. It is so boring. Maybe the club should check with you before making every decision to make sure it has your seal of approval!

Just because people don't slag off the club, they are like sheep. It's pathetic.

Barber's epistle to the minions here is slick but it says nothing that we didn't know already. Any of us could probably have written it, which can't be a good sign in terms of it containing any substance.

Which makes me curious to know: if this and last summers' events aren't enough to prompt a bit of curiosity about what really went on, then what would be? Is there anything at all that could go on at the club that might prompt apologists like you to say "right, we need some answers here"? Or would you always persist with this "nope, it's all none of our business, carry on" schtick?

To me, it's just plain weird even to think that way, with so little curiosity when such big - and generally harmful - events are going on.

The issue is the way that NSC polarises. One side of the issue is not looking to see the contracts and clauses, and the other side are not sheep following blindly everything the club says. But that is the way these differences get framed as individuals on the two sides exaggerate the other's position.

It is all so predictable and dull.

The sheep: "We don't need to be told anything"

Barber statement: "You don't need to be told anything"

Sheep: "There, we said so. He said we don't need to be told anything. We are happy like a room without a roof"

:wozza::wozza:

You really have become a tool these last two days. So boring. Change the record or let those who can see both sides of things (you know, grown ups) take the reigns.

Pathetic blind faith. Like a child and a big bright light. Who's the nutter? Maybe the club is in safe hands maybe it isn't. The fact is you haven't got a f*cking clue anymore than the rest if us but because the stadiums nice that'll do......answer me these questions:

How much is Bloom worth?

How much of his personal investment do we have to pay back?

Why did we employ an obscene amount of staff for the first year at the AMEX only to make a large percentage of them redundant 12 months later?

How is the seemingly 'cheap' 1901 and corporate packages pricing restructure going to affect things when those come to an end and need renewing?

How much financial investment have we actually had from Nike and AMEX and are those deals results dependant?

What is our actual day to day operating loss/profit versus takings?

Oh and......

What is Tony Blooms actual job?! And why can you find no record of his activities anywhere? (Other than a professional gambling profile which lists his career winnings to date at just over £1.2m.....)

He might be polluted with cash. He might the most savvy business man in the country. He might just be intensely private. Or this could all go horribly wrong because there isn't actually any more money.

You know as much as anyone else so blind faith is a dangerous thing. But you carry on pal. The rest of us are all 'nutters'

Your worry if you want pal - while your doing that I'm going to put my trust in the people who paid for our lovely £100m stadium with padded seats and good beer, oh and our £25m training facility and the plan to build a hotel to generate more revenue - I really really reckon these people have the best interests of the football club at heart, don't you?
