Oscar says we were weaker after the transfer window

The rumour going around last night, yes I know, is that Oscar has been told no funds available during the summer if we do not get promoted he must rely on free transfers or selling players. I hope that is not a true reflection of our financial situation and just another wild rumour.

Once again, BG in unsubstantiated rumour twaddle.

I don't think he'll walk away; he's basically still an unknown quantity and even the clubs that go down from the PL won't hire someone with no track record. After he storms us to the Championship title next season, *then * we might have to worry a bit.

Well taht would be what i call a nice headache

Dale Stephens is an excellent signing, and I think will be very good for us with a full pre-season (hadn't he had some injuries before he came to us)? Stephens and Crofts at the heart of our midfield is quite a prospect. However, I won't pretend I wasn't disappointed by the transfer window. I was surprised we didn't go back in for Joe Mason when Lewis Grabban turned us down (unless Cardiff actually were asking £2.5 million). The club must be glad Swansea won so comfortably today, so that Gary Monk will probably be offered the job full-time there. Mind you, Norwich will probably still be looking for a new manager next season, as may West Ham be.

I accept this is PURE speculation on my part, but I wonder if Tony Bloom's complimentary words to Oscar were of a "please don't go" nature. Knowing Tony's character, almost certainly that isn't the case, but the Tim Sherwood situation at Tottenham got me thinking, with his being told that he is going at the end of the season, that he might be back on our radar. That has taken another turn, though, with Louis van Gaal, who was supposedly on his way to Tottenham, now being favourite for the Manchester United game. Jimmy Greaves was right; football is a funny old game.

It wasn't a great transfer window but Bridcutt and Barnes were not regulars in the team in the first half of the season whereas Stephens and Lingard have been since, so not a lot in it and just the usual Oscar excuses and deflection.

So the money the club were prepared to spend during the transfer window is no longer available, despite the subsequent sale of Bridcutt ?

Were the fees offered as much as we are led to believe ie £1m+ when it has just been revealed thst the fee we received for Barnes was onky £400k ish not £750k as we were all told from ' reliable sources'. So obviously very few know the truth about what we can and cannot afford.

Portslade Seagull (QUOTE )Also heard we need to sell before we pay any money so goodbye to our saleable assets[/QUOTE]

I am glad that I am not the only person at the game who heard that rumour and for which I have been slated for reporting it.

Yes, but as has been stated before, rumours often come from one source. If I had spoke to the person in the seat next me he may then speak to another, and so on.

Spending this Summer will firmly boot the "no funds" unsubstantiated lie/rumour into touch.

Perhaps the Barnes fee was £750k, with an initial guaranteed £450k plus add ons taking it to £750k? Dyche would obviously like to state the lower figure, to emphasise the miracle of their promotion despite a lack of spending.

I don't think we will spend much in the summer - I think the problem is the wage bill rather than the transfer kitty

Why do people downright make stuff up on messageboards?

Translation:

"Source", "rumour" or "I heard" = complete bullshit I made up while knocking one out in the shower this morning.

The fee offered for Grabban HAD to be over £1.1 million because that was the release clause amount in his contract - a contract he signed this season before the Jan window. Then, after rejecting us he gets yet another new contract the greedy little Jeremy.
