I was thoroughly underwhelmed when he arrived, and he fully lived down to my expectations.

A journeyman striker by the age of 23 tells its own tale. Spells at Yeovil (x4), Millwall, Palace, Peterboroough, Swindon, us and now Charlton twice. Nobody ever sees enough in him to be interested in signing him permanently, and after 6 years at Spurs I doubt he even knows his way to White Hart Lane.

He was a body on the bench I suppose, being as at one point we were an Ulloa injury away from being strikerless. But it was pretty obvious he was flotsum, just making up the numbers. Like the last kid picked for the team in PE.

Almost certain to just like Sam Vokes has been i remember all the Vokes haters on here too saying exactly the same thing about him,
admittedly i wasn't that impressed by him myself at the time but then he started a lot of games and just didn't fit in or rather Poyet didn't allow him to fit in !!

Vokes is ten times the player Obika is, and always was when he was with us. I'd have happily signed Vokes when he was here as he was genuine competition for CMS, Hoskins and Barnes.

What is all this nonsense about not seeing enough of him? We saw more than enough to realise Obika is absolute gash and always will be.

Brighton 1 - 1 Charlton
Ulloa 17 Obika 89

Don't even joke about it! Wish l knew why so many people are anti him though. Admittedly he didn't exactly set the world alight while he was with us, but then he didn't get much game time either. He did score one good goal up at Port Vale though.

He did not appear to be very good whenever I saw him play for us. Admittedly, not that often. He didn't even appear to put the effort in. I am therefore pleased he has been recalled by Spurs. Charlton's striker options must be very limited.

Ask yourself why he didn't get much game time. Now you know why I'm not bothered he has left us.

I agree with Simster. Saw quite long enough to see with a high degree of confidence, that Jon Obika is not very good.

Well I say good luck to him, we should never have taken him, but not his fault. Must be a bit soul destroying for the guy trying so hard to make it but never actually cutting the mustard. But why nagging away at me is the believe that he will play the game of his life against us.

It's in the script, he is bound to.

That's the last time Nathan Jones' opinion will be considered when signing a player

It's obviously easy to make digs at the player but his stats speak for themselves. He scored in every single game he started and only including starts he has an average of a goal a game.

Strikers like that are always sought after

That is really depressing and embarrassing. I find it hard to understand why some people’s definition of support is to burn one of your own at the stake

Should have seen it about Brez at Hull, he was literally hung drawn and quartered. No matter who wears the shirt, just support them - however awful their overhead kicks and overall game is when they have actually featured (RE Obika).

I'll be watching to see how he gets on at Charlton.

Precisely this - dreadful player.

We didn't let him go, Spurs have recalled him to send him to Charlton.

But presumably they did so because when he came here they thought he'd get a significant amount of game time, and he hasn't. Whether they took the decision themselves or someone ( D Burke?) gave Spurs a tinkle and said, 'do you want him back, he's not even going to make the bench here'; who knows?

Yep this is true, we had no choice in the matter and we very probably would have prefered to keep him.

Spurs didn't want to give us a refund under the Sale Of Goods Act so took him back and found another mug punter prepared to pay his wages
