Anyone else have doubts about Oscar being the right man to take us forward?

Im beginning to wonder about this too , was talking to my mate about it today,
we both come to the conclusion that its Barber making the moves for players and choosing who we end up actually signing, because a lot are the best of a average bunch of players going spare.
and are either all free or pence in price compared to what other clubs pay other clubs.
Frimpong at Barnsley for example whats he on there ? Its not gonna be peanuts is it ?
He is only 22 a Ghanain International and has played for Arsenal and Fulham in the Prem WHY WOULD YOU GO TO ****ING BARNSLEY FFS ?
We will NOT get in the Premier League with this squad that is not a dig at the squad I will always back Albion players and Managers whoever they are, its reality and if ,just if by a miracle we did go up then down we would come again unless realistic targets and prices were paid for
quality players.
We have quite a few league 1 level players in this squad so what will we have in the Prem ??
Championship level players on Championship wages struggling to get more than 8 points by the end of the season at best.
Not fair on the players or the fans.
I think Oscar is a good manager who will do well for us but he needs to be given a decent sized "war chest" this Summer.
Its all well and good Mr Bloom and Mr Barber going on about that Albion should be a Premier League side but if you dont mean it dont say it
just say, we want to spend the next ten years in the Championship and build with the academy instead of raising everyones hopes all the time.

Apart from his mind numbingly dull post and pre-match interviews he is 100% the right man, based on the style of play the club (TB) want us to play. I just hope he doesn't walk away before finishing what he's started. Calderon manager in waiting, but a few years off hopefully.

Nothing to do with Barber, David Burke is the man whose job it is to source players. But as I just posted, Nathan Jones also obviously has a lot of influence as many of the players we have signed (eg Stephens - see yesterday's programme notes) have worked with him in the past

Just frustrated that we're not doing better I reckon. Perhaps we were spoiled under Poyet, but it would be great if we could bring in just ONE absolute quality signing, but they've all been a bit *meh*. I do wonder if Oscar lacks the charisma required, which is why we've been relying on Jones to bring in some average players via his connections.

We have been very fortunate (or maybe well managed) to get Gus and then Oscar. I believe they are both excellent coaches and can both get the best out of players and a team.

However, the main difference is that Oscar is a club man, Gus was a team man. Gus got incredible loyalty from his players (see Bridcutt) but, I suspect, sometimes at the expense of the club. He always said that he was completely honest with the players and would never stand in the way of their progress. I have thought from the beginning that Oscar is happy to build slowly, where Gus wanted it NOW.

I believe that this is fundamentally flawed (and siding with the team/players incidentally, was a major factor in Wilkins end). If you want to manage a club to major success in the 21st century, the club comes before the team and the players (see Ferguson, Wenger).

I still believe that Oscar could be the man who takes our club, and not just our team, onto another level.

On the plus side we have promising youngsters who seem to be progressing well under his tutelage, i.e. Ince, March, JFC. I look forward to seeing Goodwin too.

We aren't scoring enough goals, buck stops with Oscar, no excuses. He'll have plenty of chances to turn that around over the next few weeks, good luck to him. But yesterday was very predictable given how we've been playing.

I believe this to be one of the real attractions with Oscar for the club and the future. I recall Gus's words 'be careful for what you wish for'. Oscar is a gentleman but hard with it. If he feels unwanted he will go and then what ?

We are never going to score many with Rodriguez and Obika as Ulloa's striking partners. We are missing Barnes more than many thought we would. In terms of how this season ends, a lot depends on the return of CMS. It could make a massive difference having two quality strikers.

No, not at all. Considering the fiasco that had happened after the play offs and the crippling injuries, plus the financial fair play restrictions I think he has down well. I also think we are starting to his style of play a little more as the players are adapting to his philosophy.

Give the man a full summer window and a full pre season to ship out the garbage and get some more in. The time to judge will be April 2015. Personally i feel he has done a suburb job all things considering.

It's the 'shipping out' that's worrying me - since last season the 'garbage' that we've shipped out has been Bridge (OK, I know that was pre OG), Bridcutt, Barnes and El Abd (OK, he might have been third choice CB, but we're now worrying on another thread about our aging defence - and AEA was younger then Greer and Upson) - and the players we've brought in haven't been as good as the ones that left. To make progress it's got to be the other way round!

I think every club should have a suburb job done on it, by the way!

I do have doubts, yes. We played well yesterday for about 15 minutes at the end, otherwise we are lacking support for Ulloa up front. I do not think we will get out of this division playing the formation we do, especially at home. Therefore, unless the management team are willing to make some changes and play 2 up front at home, i cant see how they can take us any further forward.

For those that bleat on about the number of chances we create - most of these fall to players other than Ulloa who have a goal to attempt ration of 1 in 15, or 20 or 25 in some cases. We need another player up front with a ration close to Ulloa's, which is 1 in 5. Barnes was 1 in 8 over the past 2 seasons.
