Just spent a week in Les Deux Alpes, lovely bit of skiing during the day and good festivities in the evenings. Then going for a two month trip to Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.

Also hate flying. Haven't been on holiday in 3 years. Just the airports annoy me... however I am taking the misses to Amsterdam on the 15th Feb for 3 nights and then a week in the sun somewhere prob (no more than a few hrs flight)

The Hard Rock is brilliant. We didn't do any Universal last year, but we normally do 4 or 5 nights at the Hard Rock. Decent rooms, great pool and FOTL access for the parks is a great bonus.

Our only problem with HRH is that we can't seem to find any suites there, or should I say there 6 of us so would need 2 rooms. We may even play it by ear and see what queues are like at Universal before making any decision, seeing as main reason for staying there would be FOLP.

We thought we would have a week holiday after we did 2 weeks in Orlando! Your first trip to Florida?

That does seem the more sensible way, however last time we went the kids really suffered for couple of days after flight with sore throats and jet lag, so we thought do that while lazing on the beach. We've been before but we're going bit earlier in the year this time, last 2 weeks in August first in September, before it's been end of September beginning October. What about you, is this your first time to Florida?

Snap! We flight out 15th Aug and return 5th Sep. This is the first time with the kids, went when I was a nipper back in the 90's. Bet things have changed since then.

Valparaiso on the mainland is also well worth a visit.

If you do Valparaiso try and visit the “Hotel Brighton” – we stumbled upon it by accident on a scorching hot day in August after looking at all the graffiti that the city is famous for. No Harveys but some very nice Chilean reds. It's the orange one.

Santiago was a fantastic place, seems to have a lot of pollution unfortunately in the hottest months, but very memorable city. Vineyards are a must as well.

Yeah just a bit. I went in the 90's as well (1996) then went for first time with kids in 2012, and now we going back again. We're flying out on 20th August and back 7th September, my son was made up when one of the workers at Disney shouted Seagulls at him last time, when he was wearing his Brighton shirt.

Had planned to go to Malaysia, but I now have to have a major operation so have sorted it with my company that I will use my annual holiday leave for the time off for the operation / recovery.

So my official answer is.......Hospital then home.

Good luck with the op.

We've stayed there a few times, including 2 weeks there last Summer. Great hotel.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge 4 years ago, the experience then made us want to rebook the same hotel this time around. Loved the hotel and pretty much the whole experience. It was the kids first trip to Florida, in fact their first ever flight, which made the holiday that much better.
