Whilst I agree with you that you have to man up and deal with it as I have done playing cricket over the years, I think standing up against a former international fast pace bowler is another level and however much I dislike the prick I must say fair play for not walking after a couple of hits. Five Live said he was clocking 85 with his deliveries which is Broad/Anderson pace.

I'm not sure how this Lee/Moron business came about but If I had been Moron I would have had a couple of hours in the nets with one of those bowling machines that can mimic every bowlers deliveries. Given he is padded up to the nines and he knows Lee is going to target him he should have had enough nous after the nets to either duck or take a step over to off and let it go down leg side.

Edit: Carberry needs to start to play as he has been stuck on 1 for a while now. Whilst that's fine the whole time Cook is playing some strokes and scoring runs Carberry's problem has been getting our after staying on for a decent number of overs but not making many.

Regrettably, Matt Prior had to be dropped. Bairstow's done OK but needs to start chipping in with some half centuries.

Something's got to give with Carberry here. He's scored 3% of the runs in this partnership.

Carberry shouldn't be in any rush. Stay in and the runs will come. No point giving his wicket away as we've done so often in this series.

There's no rush to score runs, just get themselves in, let the ball soften up and then the runs will come. I think it's chanderpaul who scores his first 30-50 runs really slowly and then starts to motor once he has his eye in.

This opening partnership reminds me of the pop duo Wham, with Carberry playing the role of Andrew Ridgeley, both of them contributing fvck all.

Carberry will be making Boycott a very happy man here. Nice to see, especially as Cook is scoring at a one day rate anyway.

Can't agree with that at all. Carberry doing all the right things so far.

That's a bit harsh, they're going along at over 3 an over and cook is scoring a run a ball. Carberry although on 1 has scored a couple of fours that have gone down as leg byes

And now hit a four too. As I say, doing all the right things so far.

Great shot from Carberry there. Helps to just take any pressure off him as although he has looked steady it can always play on your mind if you having scored any runs for 7/8 overs or so.

For the first this series it's beginning to feel like it did in the summer. Any minute now we'll be getting a burst of "He bowls to the left..."

After a shaky start trying to get their tail out we've got to be happy with that. Good session.
