I really don't know what the fuss is about.

In a predominantly white football team, what is wrong with differentiating a player by their 'suspected' geographic origin?

I.e.
John: 'Their defender was outstanding today'.
Paul: 'Which one, John?'
John: 'The Asian defender'.
Paul: 'Oh yeah, he was excellent'.

Asian/Black/White/Wookie/Hispanic can all be used to quickly and easily point out whom your are referring to.

Now stop being so bloody boring and get on with something useful or enjoy what you have left of the weekend!

Yeah, but what did George and Ringo think?

What's wrong with using players' names?

Quite. This is my point; the poster's description is pointless. I, like many others, was not at the game so "black defender" means nothing to me.

Ok if you know his name or number but no use otherwise. Th PC brigade are going over the top and causing more problems than necessary.

Yeah, if only they wore names on their shirts or even just a number that corresponded to an easily accessible list of players and their shirt number.

That's bollocks. It's perfectly reasonable to describe someone as black or white to distinguish the person from soneone else e.g. the white centre half.

no it isnt - there never is any reference to a player being white is there so maybe time to cut the bs and be honest. Players have names and numbers on their shirt which is surely the blindingly obvious way to refer to them. Thankfully I have never seen a reference on here of LuaLua being our black winger or Lita our black striker.
By his own admission the o.p.'s use of language was deliberate to the point of being calculated to offend.

Only to those who are too easily offended in the first place.

Barn Door Billy has put on a bit of weight and the Donny centre half was about the same size. Barnesy didn't stand a chance with the constant manhandling and jostling. Khumalo was given a yellow card for barging over Leroy Lita a minute after he came on but got away with half a dozen fouls on Barnesy before that.

Anybody who had nothing better to do than travel all the way up north and back to watch our team who are hardly setting the league alight even at home should be excused from advertising the fact.

I have lots of trouble telling the white Albion players apart. The black players are easier for me (although still not sure which one is Ince and which one is Agustein). Fortunately I'm not the self-loathing, hand-wringer type.

Bruno is the bald one, Calde the sexy one, and Barnes the was with a laser sight trained on him from the terraces.

Precisely. I don't find "big black centre back" offensive. To do so would be ridiculous. But when you're posting a thread that is effectively a match report combined with player ratings it's meaningless to anyone who wasn't there. If you want to wind up NSC how about starting a proper thread with "big black centre back" in the title instead of posting something that was basically lazy or ignorant of their players then back tracking to make yourself some kind of free speech hero?

Ince is the one that does running and Agustien is the one that fannies about and looks offended when this costs him the ball.

What a bizarre post. I can't quite work out your point. You seem to be claiming moral high ground over 900 of our supporters who travelled to Doncaster.
