Spurs and Utd didn't turn palace over because spurs and utd weren't clicking as teams, and offered little in attacking threat. Arsenal haven't turned palace over because palace have played well today and mostly stopped Arsenal.

I think once the decision is given that Arteta has impeded Chamakh, the thing the referee has to consider is whether the Arsenal centre back who was parallel to the incident would be able to get to Chamakh in time to stop him having a shot at goal. The defender is a long way from the ball and I think the defender was Per Mertesacker who is not blessed with tremendous pace and so I think the chances are Chamakh would have had a strike, although the fact that it was Chamakh who would have been shooting means it's unlikely to have been much of a goalscoring opportunity. Joking aside, I can see why Foy sent Arteta off because there was no obvious covering defender.

It was a good win for Arsenal because Palace unsettled them and harried them, which is the type of match Arsenal have not always relished and they then killed the game off with a numerical disadvantage. Arsenal look more resilient this season and the signings of Ozil and Flamini seem to have galvanised their spirit, as well as also resulting in them always creating chances in matches. Giroud, Gibbs and Ramsey are all having impressive seasons too.

That sums up palaces problems for me. They only stand a chance against teams if they defend deep, play well and somehow stop the better teams like Chelsea did to Munich a couple of years ago. Trouble is, they won't score goals themselves that way. Played well today, albeit against only ten men for a long time, but got nothing. I am very very happy.

The ref didn't take into consideration that Chamakh would have blasted his goal attempt into the crowd had he got past Arteta  How did Jedinak get away without a yellow card with all those clumsy challenges on Giroud ?

Tis was a foul.

Not a red though, him and flamini out for utd game?

Think it's only 1 game ban unless it's violent conduct?

If it's 3 then yes Arteta will miss Chelsea game in capital one cup, Liverpool and Utd games in prem.

I am convinced that he lives a charmed life. Continual fouling but yet no yellows. Strange.

Was their crowd really only 20000? Very poor if true.

BBC are quoting attendance as 20,050 , if correct that is woeful

Arsenal under-par after their midweek Champions League exertions, so 2-0 was predictable. Fair play to Palace for some fight but they can't seem to defend and attack well in the same match. That result will give Gus's Sunderland a lift, a chance to get off the bottom.

You are correct, Arteta is only out for the Chelsea game.

Very good summary of the game and Arsenals season so far. Really liking Arsenal at the moment this season, Flamini was a brilliant signing this season, was a much bigger loss to them than people thought when they left.

Sunderland to win tomorrow and this will put Palace in their rightful place at the bottom of the league.

When you consider how many Arsenal there were and then factor in the palace who were there to see their 'real' team, there can't have been many more real palace there than they averaged last year. Premier football is working out well for them....

I thought I had tuned in a week early for the 1st round of the FA Cup as there was certainly a pub team playing.

Jedinak was Arsenals MOM every pass he made went to one of them - he's a shovel for a right foot. What a woeful player when not using his head. :D

Why would any of the Palacestics want to watch the game at Smellhurst when they can watch the game from their armchair ?

25,050 the attendance here today, with 2,842 @arsenal fans
---

Even with them just counting tickets sold, that number would have only changed by about 500. We managed 29,000 in an unfinished stadium against them last year !!

My overriding thought on watching Palace on the box today -
