So, since 2008 has been on loan with loads of different clubs without securing a permanent deal. Not casting doubts on his ability, but it does seem strange that he hasn't settled anywhere.

all i can to this we should be aiming higher no affence to jonathan obika
I have seen you post this opinion in numerous threads. You do realise the loanee will be a bench player who will probably be behind Barnes/CMS when they are fit. Obviously Leo starts and we only play one striker. Who are you expecting to come here and happily be back up that fits this "higher aim"?

I will refrain from judgement as I have never seen him play but some players just click at certain clubs, you never know, he may play well when given the chance.

He's going to sit on the bench until Barnes is back and then may well dissapear from the squad depending on performances. In the situation we weren't likely to get anyone proven.

TBH never heard of him or seen him play. Given he is being signed as cover, why not?

I do wonder how many of the NS c community has actually seen him play or are basing their judgement on Football Manager or FIFA.

Surely the loan window gives us the opportunity to bring in an impact player who can help add to our points tally and boost our chances of being around the top 6 come January. There are other formations you know... We may even play 2 up top!

for **** sake mark, we are looking for a back up striker to Ulloa and Barnes as cover until CMS is fit , we are NOT going to get a proven championship striker in on loan to sit as third choice behind Barnes. Face reality.

These. He is the epitome of the 'emergency loan', IMO. No point – and probably no chance – of getting a 'proven goalscorer at this level' because they are probably going to be sat on the bench here, as opposed to elsewhere being regular starters.

Never heard of him, to be honest, but happy to reserve judgement (as long as Leo stays fit).

So your happy with that scenario then? Wait for a striker who barely scored double figures all last season and who probably won't be fully match fit til Christmas?

I'm certainly not and if it does turn out to be Obika that's a massively underwhelming signing in my opinion. Lets get Vaz Te or Becchio for 93 days and if they start banging them in then take the plunge in January and sign them.

Plus if (heaven forbid) Ulloa gets injured over the next couple of months what back up do we currently have? Barnes, Barker, Dickenson? Not good enough I'm afraid, we need to bring in quality and if that means changing the formation then change it!! Players at this level are capable of playing more than one style!

I agree - it shows a lack of ambition on the pitch.

If we could get Becchio or Vaz Te in then I'm sure we would have but why would those players come here to sit on the bench behind Barnes and barely get a game ? Like mark you need to face reality.

Who said anything about sitting on the bench?? They would be starters in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 formation. I'm bringing them in to start not sit on the bench.

Also are you the club accountant? How do you know we cannot afford these players for 93 days??
