In my opinion such people lose all their rights when they commit a crime apart from the right to a fair trial. If they want rights, then don't murder fellow human beings. Simple really.

So you would hang murderers, maybe stop feeding them and let them starve to death, maybe have fights to the death in prison? That's would make you as bad as them would it not?
And of course what do you do if they are innocent, I guess we would never know as removing their human rights would also remove the right to appeal?

All things are relative though. Tow us to the equator and I reckon we'd see some real nasty big buggers move in, pretty soon. I think the extreme weather systems would be a bit of a shock too.

I've given it some thought, and I they should put us either bang in the middle of the MED (they could evict Malta if necessary) or perhaps somewhere near the Canary Islands.
Christ, how STUPID are you? goldstone has already told us we should get OUT of Europe. :nono:

What about SHARKS? And SCORPIONS and nasty SNAKES?

I do fancy swanning around in a grass skirt though, with ALL girls wearing coconut bras.

How would we fit the UK through that tiny gap between Spain and Morocco? (Unless you're thinking that for the med we drag the UK over western Europe?)

Or maybe we could break the UK up into the loads of pieces, drag each piece through that tiny gap and then put it back together later on once we've found a good spot.

Yes there will always reasons to leave Europe, but there are far more reasons for stay for the common good. More Daily Express style scaremongering..

It's all bloody Europe: European Union, European Court of Human Rights, European Commission - all costing us billions and providing us with nothing but bureaucracy.

Anyway, are you supportive of the human rights of murderers?

Argh every time the ECtHR make an important decision its the same bloody argument. Why is it so difficult to distinguish between them

Actually, that second bit is a CRACKING idea. that way we could put the pieces back in a better way - stick Crawley and Croydon for example, somewhere near Inverness, and move York and Bath to Sussex.

Just make sure we put Kent and Sussex back together using the correct edge (and cheekily re-draw the boundary so that Tunbridge Wells is back in Sussex where it belongs)

The European Court of human Rights, as implied by Simster above, has nothing to do with the European Union.
Well actually,.... the judges for the ECHR are elected by the Council of Europe and by association the European Parliament and other European Union institutions often refer to the work of PACE, especially in the field of human rights, legal co-operation and cultural co-operation. ( that last bit I quoted just to get the terminology right). So in essence they are all interlinked.

Tunbridge Wells will indeed be in New Sussex, just across the Pennines from Harrogate.

Don't worry about the scummy bit of Kent though - we'll forget to even bring those bits with us.

I'm not in favour of capital punishment, but I don't go along with murderers complaining about their loss of human rights. Maybe they should have thought about that beforehand?

I reckon the European Court of Human Rights was too busy saving the Euro and worrying about bendy bananas to apply proper consideration to this case. Crazy times we live in.

Bananas have rights too!

This thread is a refreshing mix of the serious and the whimsical.

And yes, murderers do have rights. There is a difference between having the hope of being released, and having any prospect of being released.

And Ireland wouldn't get in the way if it came with us, so that it was the British Isles being towed away, rather than the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which would necessitate separating the six counties off anyway, which would further complicate matters, anyway.

I stand corrected - I was just aware that it is not part of what most people would think of as "Europe".

We could join the Isle of Wight back to the mainland by CRASHING it through Portsmouth.
