Well I only went to the Withdean a handful of times because, frankly, I couldn't afford it. I was a student then, and I'm an adult with a job now. Now I can afford a season ticket, then I couldn't afford tickets to games at all really. Does that make me a plastic? Or a JCL? How many are in similar positions?

I'm in quite a similar position.

Went to first Albion game at Withdean aged 5/6 in 2000. Managed to get to a couple of games a season as family couldn't afford it and not that easy to get to from Seaford. Was mascot in 04 and ballboy couple of times after. Would listen to every game home and away religiously on the radio, nothing would stop me there. I was the only person under 16 I knew who supported the Albion, since then converted 7 of my friends into proper Albion fans only from the bigger prem teams and I know alot of others who have been dragged in from our recent success.

As I reached 16 was planning to get a season ticket with a friend who was half chelsea/half brighton, this would involve 2 buses from Seaford to Withdean taking at least 2 hours not really convenient on a weekday night doing GCSE's. He pulled out and I was never allowed to go on my own. As we got the AMEX my dad decided to get a Season ticket with me, had the money now I'm older and cheaper than Withdean with travel etc.

What does that make me? I consider myself a huge Albion fan whoever regards me JCL or whatever doesn't really bother me. But those that find the newer fans a bit annoying I can understand. It was nice when you could consider the club yours and not have to share it with a few JCL's like some of my friends. But thats obviously a purely selfish view. It helps the clubs loads thats theres 20k more shirts and tickets being sold.

Every Pro club in the country has them. Throw in a few consistent results, leaving you chasing a promotion or a cup run and they all turn up.

Look at places like Fulham, Southampton good crowds now but just look a few years back and they had half the gates. In reverse look at the quick drop at Blackburn.
Even the scum from the slum up the road has them and they could have at least 6-8k of them there tonight, but if it happens to us, the falling off of crowds, we can then call the missing fans, lapsed fans, but part of our fan base, like the Nigel's do.

It goes with the territory i'm afraid DR. All us old boys will still be here when we inevitably have a bad patch in the future

Das is albion through and through, been there for all the bad times.

From what i can fathom from DR's previous posts, this is true.

So people should just respect others opinions instead of slating them. A great man once said "Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance".
