Well if that's the case, the likes of you & me will be financing it next season. I personally think such a move would hardly suggest all's rosey between the manager & the chairman if that's how GP seeks to get his way, but that's just my opinion.

The ticket prices are set, and no one can force you to eat and drink more, so only generous TB will be hit hard or Barber will have to do even more to up commercial income.

As said before many times if some one offers you a job you want to hear what they gotta say. Gus a bloom Bloom are prob reading this thread cracking up.
That's how I like to think of it:

Gus: 'Tony, how can I help you?'
Sir Tony Bloom: 'I've had a call from Reading, they asked if they could talk to you'
Gus: 'About what?'
Sir Tony Bloom: 'Becoming their new manager'
Gus & Sir Tony Bloom: '  :rotlf:'
Gus: 'Go on then. Don't say anything for 1 day, NSC is going to go mental'.

What? He's going to FOREST now?! Hell's teeth!

What I posted earlier goes for whoever does take the Reading job:
"A move to Reading for Gus would be a very big gamble for him in my opinion. If you look at their remaining 8 fixtures it's not inconceivable that they could lose all or most of them. Say at the start of next season in the championship they get a tough set of fixtures, possibly QPR, Nottm. Forest, Aston Villa, he could be looking at maybe 1 win in 11 or 12 matches an easily sackable scenario. Where would his career be then?"

What could happen now is that Gus takes us on a run like Reading last season and we get automatic promotion!

Gus is NOT the man for Reading, he has flair, personality, charisma , they have ....... what?. A nothing club that needs a nothing manager....Nigel " personality free " Adkins is the ideal man for the job. A bland manager for a bland club in a bland town.

Congrats on keeping your prized asset gentlemen, in the long-term it was probably the correct decision. FAO of the person above, till quite intrigued how we are a 'nothing' club? Please define what you mean by a 'nothing club' you fool. And don't criticise a manger that has a much better CV than your current boss. Had Adkins have been a foreign superstar in the Prem and played for Chelsea, I'm sure he would be linked with the Chelsea job. Think Gus is still living in dreamland slightly there.

I would define a nothing club as Reading. If Gus is serious about managing a leading Prem side having Reading on his CV would have been an embarrassment. Nothing personal.

Why? I prefer what Gus has done for us with the budget he'd had. Do you never criticise managers in the top flight, just because they have good CVs?

Had Adkins have been a foreign superstar in the Prem and played for Chelsea
Then he'd have more football experience than he has.
Think Gus is still living in dreamland slightly there.
Why, what has Gus said?

I agree with you re Tw@tkins CV being CURRENTLY better than Gus' one, but I expect that to change this season or next, when we hit the Prem with Gus at the helm.

As for Reading, you are very, very lucky to have very rich owners. Your natural level is NOT the Prem, but ours could be.

Apart from perhaps Wigan, I actually can't think of another club, that are more of a 'nothing' club than Reading.

For example, I Gus had been managing Reading, and had them up to 7th, while Brighton were about to get relegated from the premiership, people would be saying the same thing. We expect Gus to make a step up from Brighton, and given that Reading are about to be relegated, it doesn't look like a step up (and it wouldn't if the teams were reversed).

Atkins had a fantastic squad, as borne out by a player payroll cost 3x that of Albion's in League One.
Atkins had very generous owners in the Liebherr Estate, making success much easier.

Anyone up for telling that chap from the Reading Post not to cut his skiing holiday short because of some press conference that isn't going to happen. Seem to remember he was claiming that "money talks" :lolol:

Don't you understand English? Bland, uninteresting , boring.Adkins may be a decent manager but he, just like your club, has no personality and no charisma. Dont worry though your slightly less uninteresting than Aldershot. You tool.
