If you're as short sighted to only consider one game, then yes it is. But it's pretty clear to anyone that a good performance, even in defeat, puts you in a better position in the next match to iron out those few errors and progress.

f***ing hell some people on here tonight are idiotic. ONE game does not decide our entire season

No but it is 2 goals and no goals. 7 goals in the last 12 games and relegation form in that time. Still we must never say anything against the uber fans status must we. Everything is dandy and we will win the league.

Is this a wind up ? You are saying it is better to play well and not score than to play badly and not score. As it is, it makes f*** all difference as the end result is the same. The last time I checked the rules of football it is the team who scores the most wins the game and gets the points.

Must be a wind-up.

So you think that if we'd gone up there and played shit, looking clueless and lost it would have been the same just because of the points situation.

I think if you asked Gus he might disagree with you.

If you perform well consistently the results follow. If you play shit consistently they don't. Do you agree with that?

Poyet is an ok manager. Average at this level. I think there are numerous managers who would have done at least as well as he has done in this division.

Be careful what you say-he'll get upset and FLOUNCE for six months for the umpteenth time.

No goals scored against Swindon, no goals scored against Hull - had an awful end to last season.
Muppet Poyet must have worked out our weakness?
People still thinking that elusive top scorer is going to join us!!

Lose at home to Cardiff, especially if we don't score again & the pressure will build further.

Has Poyet got it? Frankly I don't care.mNever particularly rated him. We have had many better managers than him, with a fraction of his budget
The heat on Poyet is definitely rising, just because it's rising at an infinitesimally small degree doesn't mean it's not rising, no one can argue with that. Pressure's on.

Sounds like a solid performance and I think we will be a hard side to break down this season.

While we need to look at the positives and the shot count heavily in our favor the only question is why have we gone all summer without signing a striker. Last season our problem was a lack of goals, is it a lack of opportunities or a lack of goals? On todays stats it does look like the latter.

What was the point of bringing Adgestein on with 1 minute to go,he should have started up front with Barnes.

Fed up with Poyet. He has known for yonce that we needed strikers, yet the moron, always goes for the defenders.

Don't get that striker - then I can really see that there will be Gus chants to quit when we are at the bottom in the autumn.

Has Gus taken us as far as he can?

Maybe no, maybe yes. Won't be long till we find out.

Nice try but you've failed.

OK, so today it sounds like we've played well, not taken our chances and been duly punished for it.

It happens, it happened to Leicester and Forest against us last season for example. Every single team in this division is going to have a crap game at some stage, it is simply the nature of the beast. Sometimes games like this will fall our way, sometimes not.

Roll on Tuesday with the Amex full, Vicente back and Bobby up front (I can dream, can't I?) and watch most of the negativity and doom-mongering after 1 game of a 46 game season just wash away. I say most because there are some on here so entrenched in their negativity that even a 5-0 win every single week wouldn't satisfy them.

So?
West Ham had 3 on target today and won. Charlton had 4 and won/winning. Leicester had 4 and won.
I fail to see your point...

18 shots, 4 on target, 0 goals.
The chances were there to be taken but we had no-one to take them.
I reckon the more shots on target we have the more we will score, so my thought is a decent striker would hit the target more than 22% of the time resulting in more goals. However I could be wrong, maybe we don't need a better strikeforce?

Last 12 games?! We've started a new season, with a load of new signings, last season means absolutely nothing now. We've been knocked out of the league cup with a pretty shit performance, fair enough. But one game into the league, we put in a fairly decent performance and get unlucky towards the end, having been unable to score against one of the best defences in the league.

Another day it could have easily gone the other way and we would have won. By the sounds of things we certainly played the better football, the goals will come.
