The only decent teams the Cowboys played against last year were Stanford, who seemed to massively overrated hanging around at #3 all year with a cup cake schedule and Oklahoma who were fading fast by the time Oke St blew them out, plus he had Blackmon to throw to which he did most of the time.

Throwing well against the likes of Tulsa and Louisiana - Lafayette is not the same as taking on the AFC North. Unless he has vastly improved in the Browns training camp I see McCoy being back under center by week 5.

McCoy is no great shakes but he has had a bit of raw deal in Cleveland, their receivers were awful last year. He put a lot of passes on the numbers but they kept dropping it. Holmgren hasn't done much to improve this area either. All they have done is take Travis Benjamin in round 4 from The U. I bet Ed Reed is shaking in his boots!

TR is going to be flogged from day one and if he doesn't perform (I think he'll have very average numbers) they'll have to rely on Weedon's arm (again average) and piss poor receivers.

The QB position has been a revolving door in Cleveland since the days of Bernie Kosar and I think Weedon will be another QB who'll be told to watch the door on his way out...........with Holmgren the next to follow.

McCoy is a tryer but doesn't have the arm to succeed in the NFL, he also can't read a pro defence quickly enough. I was gutted when we spent a 1st round pick on Weeden, I'm sure he would have dropped into the 2nd round, but I don't think there was a WR worth having either once the Titans had taken Kendall Wright. With hindsight a line backer might have been a good idea as Fujita is suspended and Gocong is out for the season.

At least we'll have a watchable offence this year, Weeden has looked OK in training camp and at least we now have a deep threat to keep defences honest. You said we only took Benjamin, but we did also pick up Josh Gordon in the supplementary draft who has the ability to be a number 1 WR and hopefully will contribute something along with Greg Little, who I can see having a good season. A lot of the drops last year were down to McCoy throwing too high or behind the receiver, so I'm optimistic that this year will see a reduction in that area.

If we can at least threaten with the passing game that should give Richardson an opportunity to make some big gains too.

Go Browns.

That was an epic game in Eugene last season, and fair play you won fair and square. I thought Barkley had a hell of a game that day. I look forward to the rematch!

Indeed it was, only fatigue let you back in to the game in the last quarter.

Looking at the Ducks schedule I can't see anyway you wont win the North. First 4 games at Autzen against Arkansas State, Fresno State, Tennessee Tech and Arizona. Talk about cup cakes to open up with!

ESPN TV schedule has been released for opening weekend, looks pretty good, if I can manage to stay up late.

31st Aug

00:00 South Carolina @ Vanderbilt
03:15 Washington State @ BYU

1st Sept

01:00 Boise State @ Michigan State
14:00 Notre Dame vs Navy (Croke Park)
17:00 Ohio @ Penn State

20:30 Viewers Choice Vote Miami (Fl) @ Boston College
Southern Miss @ Nebraska
Bowling Green @ Florida
2nd Sept

01:00 Michigan vs Alabama (Cowboys Stadium)
04:00 Arkansas State @ Oregon

4th Sept

01:00 Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech

CANT WAIT!!

The Jets training camp descended into a mass punch up yesterday. Tebow must be wondering what he signed up for. With a slimmed down Rex Ryan in charge (he may have lost 100 pounds but he’s still a fat git) it looks increasingly like a soap opera. I’m a Giants fan but I’ll be interested to see how this whole Tebow / Sanchez thing pans out. I think Tebow is overrated and the Jebus stunt he pulls each time he gets a TD has become increasingly irritating, Sanchez is just a perennial under performer and Ryan is a loudmouth who never delivers.

But, as one of the guys at work said to me, you’re just a Brit so what do you know about NFL!

Yeah I'm not saying we'll win the division but hopefully we'll at least compete. You were a surprise package last year, might be a chance of a sophomore slump from Dalton or Green.

Hopefully both.

On paper we look stronger this year than last year.

Had a quick scan, and not seen this anywhere .... heart goes out to Andy Reid after the death of his eldest son Garrett. Dreadful, I just don't know how you deal with something like that.

Wow! Tyrann Mathieu (The Honey Badger) has been kicked out of the LSU football programme.

LSU's Tyrann Mathieu kicked off team for violating rules - ESPN

Probably the best corner in College football. If he wants to play next year he'll have to transfer to an FCS school, which is basically the backwaters. Worked for Cam Newton though when he left Florida for Blinn College in Texas before establishing himself at Auburn so I expect to see Mathieu back at one of the big schools for the start of the 2013 season.

Hat's off to Les Miles though, zero tolerance even on one of their superstar players.

By the way, if anyone's team happen's to be playing the Jets this season you can forget any in depth analysis on your teams performance as it will all be about TEBOW.

I say this as I've just watched the Jets @ Bengals ''game highlights'' on NFL.COM. They should have renamed it ''The Tebow scrambling for his life highlights'' instead.

The game finished 17-3 to the Bengals but I don't think they showed any scoring in these highlights just one Sanchez sack to the line up the entrance of TEBOW. Many broken plays and scrambles later they finish on his pick.

We scored 17 points but I have no idea how, who or when.

Thanks NFL.COM. :annoyed:

You'd think so. I was quite surprised how quickly he found the Dolphins, as I thought he'd be waiting longer than the likes of Plaxico Burress to find a landing spot .... and I'm not expecting Burress to show up anywhere anytime soon.

Think Plax is working out with the Pats at the moment.

Makes sense, as the Pats do like to take a look at people and just check that there isn't something worth having. Didn't they take a look at Joseph Addai earlier in teh off-season, only to decide, that he didn't have enough left in the tank?

Doesn't follow that Plax gets a contract, and personally, I'd be surprised if he gets offered a deal by the Pats. That said ... this game does always surprise me.

Addai quit on a conditioning drill so BB cut him that afternoon

Ruthless.

Did you see the Luck and RG3 highlights from last weeks pre season games?

Both looked pretty slick.

only saw the Luck highlights Bladders - looked very comfortable & settled already. Great numbers for a debut preseason game too 10/16, 188, 2 td's - but it was only against the Rams :) Shame Weedon didnt get much luck in our matchup vs the Lions...but at least we won. McCoy had some ok numbers - as did Thaddeus Thomas?! Who the F*** is he??

Well the Jets O looks awful once again, Tebow's surely only going to be used in 3rd and short and goal line situations so no idea why the coverage is all about him. Sanchez obviously needs to improve big time but I still think he is our guy.

Anyone watching MNF tonight? Looking forward to seeing how the Cowboys look.

I’ll be rooting for the Giants in their first regular game against the Cowboys on September 5. There’s still some bad blood between new Giants signing Martellus Bennett and his old club so could be interesting.

The newly slimmed down Rex Ryan will be sweating more than usual this season as he will be under pressure to come up with the goods after last season’s performance when he admitted he “lost” the pulse of the locker room.

The Tebow thing will get even worse tomorrow when he has his 25th birthday. One of the guys at work who is a Jets fan was dead against the Tebow purchase and said that the Jets would descend into a circus as a result – he’s not far wrong.
