Stupid article. But I think we're doing ok at the games.

We've had a large amount of athletes compete in the finals over a wide range of sports. Only arm chair morons consider medals the only measure of success at the Olympics.

Emma Pooley didn't medal for team GB. But I thought her 6th in the time trial was a pretty good ride.

I think you confuse bad losing with the will to want to win.

I was going to then say look at Bradley Wiggins and his dummy spit when things didn't go right for him at Le Tour. But then I remembered all his cycling talent came from his Australian father. So maybe you are right!

Dullard.

i'm waiting to see the full list of sports that australia apparently no longer care about

Give them a break - let them list the sports they do care about, it's a lot shorter.

In fact I can do it:

- that funny AFL thing (that no one else in the whole world plays.)

<list ends>

They are only interested in Aussie Rules at times like this.

*ducks*

i see what you did there..... there are some proper arse-holes in the aussie media ..........such one eyed and lop sided commentary you would struggle to find anywhere else. it's a shame for the athlete's/swimmers etc. as they have been brainwashed into thinking that all they have to do is turn up to win gold for astraaaaaalya....when clearly a bit more effort is required.

What does it matter who plays it?

Ireland's native sports of Gaelic Football and Hurling are only played at high levels in that nation.

Doesn't mean both aren't brilliant sports to watch and play.

You need to brush up on your humour skills too ;)

I agree that medal willy waving is silly in the most part but it feels great for our relatively small nations to do so well so far. It's helped a lot more that we have medals in 8 disciplines I think the same as the us and only one less than the Chinese. That means more to me.

Look,

They do have the campest 'expert' on the BBC Olympic coverage though.

I don't think the athletes think like that at all.

Certain aspects of the media do. But that's only the opinion of people who follow certain sports for the 3 weeks the Olympics are on and then wouldn't watch the sport again for another four years.

must be nice to have the media of your country demanding an inquiry into olympic "failure" before the games are even finished.............competing in the olympics is honour enough , medals are a bonus...........failure to win gold should not illicit a massive spray pf spittle, tears and excuses.....never mind eh...?

The media here are the same as the media in England when you dissect them. A small few write utter shite, the rest provide a far more sensible and balanced view.

Attributing an online media hack to what's being written in all of the major media outlets here is a lazy way to sum up an event

You'd not attribute the general populations opinion in the UK on an issue going by what the Sun printed now would you?

The Herald Sun is the biggest selling paper in Oz. When Wiggo won his Gold they were very complementary towards his win and achievements in the last month.

But don't let a bad story get in the way of a good one haha

Is that the dummy spitting Wiggins you mentioned earlier ?
