You're assuming that Gus knew he was disqualified from driving. He may not have let on.

It certainly happens, haven't seen one of my customers for a couple of months now. Seems he doesn't have a driving licence, not actually sure whether he 'lost' it through being naughty or maybe never passed a test.

Should have been spotted by his employers years ago, seeing as he had to drive company vehicles on a daily basis.

A lot of what ifs now. If he had played, maybe Vincelot wouldn't, no red card, at least 10 men on the pitch. Could have won...

Alternatively, maybe not

Wouldn't Reyes have been playing at rb, where he has played every game for us. Vincelot would still have played, El-Abd would have been on the bench IMO

I think the point is that the team and game plan would have been worked on and set up during the week with Reyes playing at RB and adding an attacking option that El Abd probably could only dream of matching. As Reyes was stopped at 11am then they would only have had about 1 or two hours to make changes.

I suspect that driving whilst disqualified meant he had no insurance either.

You suspect? Or was it the line in the Argus that says he's been charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance that gave it away?

He probably 'forgot' to mention it to the club. I doubt football clubs ask players if they have any points on their licence when they sign them on loan. Maybe he'll try and go down the road of "I don't understand English law, your worships" when he arrives in court...

And yes, to whoever asked, he could be locked up for it. At a guess, I'd say he won't be, the first time, but the issue is that courts don't take kindly to people flagrantly ignoring the punishments dished out to them, as it demonstrates a lack of remorse and rehabilitation. He'll get another six points at least just for the insurance issue (if convicted, of course), and an extended ban because he'll already have loads of points still on his (disqualified) licence for the original offence.

Why his personal life has nothing to do with his proffesional life.

Oh please .. he's in the public eye, and he's let the team down badly. To coin a phrase "it's criminal" ... others might want to detach these behaviours from on pitch stuff but I'd be very surprised and (I'll freely admit very disappointed) if the club took that view. As I said earlier I can see circumstances around a DD ban but then take the punishment and respect the law.

Playing devil's advocate here, where is the line drawn between personal/professional life?

When one affects your ability to do the other?

Guess it did then. I hope we're not paying him this week. Why should we fork out for his wages when through his own stupidity (so it seems) he wasn't available to do the job he's paid handsomely for?

Why would I write "I suspect" if I already knew, because I would also know that everyone else knew and they would know I knew and was a bullshitter.
