It must be said Aberdeen were poor and didnt trouble us at all. I cant remember them having a decent shot on target.

I honestly don't think I remember them having a single shot on target... Pretty sure they didn't

Bugger, we missed that unfortunate incident!! Sounds better than the one I saw!!!! We watched the first half in H Block and moved over to B for the second half!! First Class Entertainment on and off the pitch!!

I

It was pretty funny, though the chap himself made one joke and then wanted it left alone. Classic.

The guy who toppled over was first half, shame you missed that. But atleast you got to see the other chap. Well worth going today in my humble opinion.

1 - 0 to the good guys :) - and Aberdeen had - ZERO shots on target and we created about 10 good chANCES :)

You're WRONG tho. You must have left early or something.

Aberdeen had a single shot on goal about a minute before the end. Their fans went pre-season equivalent of apeshit on account of this shot on goal - as confirmed by their fans in the pub after. Oh and they appear to be distinctly lukewarm on McGhee btw

Clipped the outside of the post.

Was it just my ears, or did a few of them shout "McGhee out" at full time?

McGhee’s reaction sounds good from an Albion perspective.

Mark McGhee Post Match Quotes
"It was a game where we spent coping with them. They (Brighton) were good today. Their shape was good and they stretched us, they passed the ball better than us and they forced us to work really really hard. We had no attacking threat.

"Part of the exercise we are here for is to work hard and to get fitter and better. Obviously what we need to do is find a better way of playing. Find a better shape. Start fitting together the parts that we have brought together into some kind of shape that is going to allow us to impose ourselves more on the opposition.

"Mark Howard was good today and had some good saves, in coping with their passing and movement I thought Jerel and Zander did fine. We were ok in that respect but we did not keep the ball well enough ourselves. We were tired because we had to work so hard to stop them.

"I am confident we will find a cutting edge. We have to work on a shape which is suitable for the likes of Peter Pawlett, who has that bit of pace in the middle. Scott Vernon was having to run up the sides and chase back. We have to find a way of getting him up the middle and keeping him in the box and giving him service that he can score from.

Rather ironic remark I heard in the North Stand today, somebody said 'what we need now is a Leon Knight type striker as he would score loads of gaols the way we are playing the ball around on the ground' Hard to disagree with the sentiment.

Get him back on a trial.

Yeh I remember that - Thought that was the one that hit the post (when the fans went mental) but maybe got that wrong...?

I heard them singing a supportive-type chant for Magoo, though his lot were pretty poor in truth.
We WERE all over them and played much better football, but yet we did only manage one goal out of it. We'll have to work on finishing sides off, because a simple moment lacking concentration could see a bad opponent level - rendering 90 minutes of great football practically a waste of effort in league terms.

Still, it was a friendly, a practice game that encouraged for the quality of passing and teamwork. Good to see Andrew Whing involved, and should do our confidence no harm at all.
Swindon will want to come at us at their place, as they'll probably consider us serious league 1 rivals now. There should be lots of good games this season, expectations run high in the club and in Gus's mind I bet.

This could well be a 'flying' farewell to Withdean Stadium in our final season here. I heard that season ticket sales have increased too.
Anticipation is revving up!

Surprised that not much mention has been made of the two (not one, but TWO) 'Pele-esque' efforts from Baz...
