There are churches in Baghdad and Christians are free to worship. The Iraqi spokesman in the first Gulf War is Christian.

Thats not the case now though since we`ve given Iraq 'back to the people' is it ? Christians fleeing for their lives at this moment in time.

I'm intrigued to hear about this mosque that can hold 1/3 of Britain's muslim population. Earlier this year, the Beeb reported about plans to build a 12,000 capacity one that had failed

BBC News - Plans collapse for Britain's biggest mosque in London

and that article said it was going to be the biggest in Britain.

Giant mosque for 40,000 may be built at London Olympics - Times Online

Sorry mate, one to many zeros.

No-one seems to be offering a reason as to why they should be banned other than a link to the Daily Mail.

Why would you want them banned?

I assume part of it is the same reason people are required to take off motor cycle helmets when entering banks.

There has to be a security element involved in the consideration.

Imagine how you'd feel if you were a bank teller and every second person came in with their face covered, you'd be constantly be on edge not knowing is it a legit customer or a crook about to rob you.

I don't support a full ban, more a ban from places say like a bank or when holding a position in a public office.

It's not a religious item of clothing as is sometimes suggested. Tunisia a 98% majority Muslim nation banned the burqa AND hijab because they viewed them as "foreign bits of clothing".

So if it's a cultural thing then the host nation should have a right to place limitations on certain things. There's no issues with banning other customs which originate from other cultures like like stonings, female circumcision, eating dogs, whales and a myriad of other things.

The burka has nothing to do with religion as nothing is stated in the koran end of.Many people will find these burka's intimidating and to be frank YES they certainly should be banned.

Its time this country did something about all these religious beliefs that seem to neverend.

Bloody joke this country:censored:

Where ever the Persians were located around the middle east there was always more tolerance for other religions as opposed to where the Arabs were.

Iran (Persians) still offers a form of protection to other religions under its constitution, Iraq (the Arabs) never did.

Does that include those of the Jewish faith?
