Now they've bid for John Terry, following on from Etoo and Kaka politely declining a stint in East Mancland.

I can understand for the first few times it must be fun for the chief exec to ring up and say "We'll give you £100m for the lad" but they must realise they're just making themselves look like complete goons.

At least qualify for the UEFA cup or whatever it's called now before you start trying to entice people of this level.

No real world class player is going to sign for them. Players who are that good have a little thing called 'ambition'....

The problem is Manchester - highest rainfall count in the UK and just a grim place to live, so even if City became as big as United both clubs are never going to be as attractive to foreign players as living in Spain or Italy is - Vidic family 'apparently' unsettled there, Ronaldo couldn't wait to get to the Spanish sun, Ribery saying weather too much like it is in Germany and so he'd rather go to Spain, Eto was never going to trade Barcelona for that, nor would Kaka have considered it even if City had qualified for Europe, and despite all his apparently positive noises (mainly driven by his obscene monthly pay cheque), Robinho must be wondering what the hell he's done.

Therefore, we need to encourage global warming to the fullest extent possible.

Although you only have to live 40 miles east in Leeds, where it's a drier climate than Barcelona. (Manchester is the wrong side of the penines if you want to avoid rain)

So if climate is playing such a big factor in attracting footballers, hopefully when we reach the premiership we'll gain an edge over them northen clubs! :clap2:

Eto'o hasn't said no?? So he could still go.

I don't think man city are doing much wrong. They are going about all their deals professionally and it is the other clubs that run to the media when man city come calling.

I've actually been thinking for a while that they made themselves look pretty stupid with the Kaka thing and just keep doing it like they won't learn.

I think they need to understand a little bit about how these things are done. Priority 1 has to be to be offering European competition. Whilst everyone goes on about how Chelsea bought their success, they were already able to offer regular Champions League football to entice the top players when Abramovic arrived.

Man City just don't seem to understand the flaw in their current business plan and need to concentrate on the next step, not where they might end up in a few years. These things take time for clubs without the previous history, and many prospective club chairmen need to take note. This is why the guy at Aston Villa seems like the most sensible amongst the foreign owners, as he seems to understand that you have to walk before you can run.

its rather pointless asking about Terry though who bleeds Chelsea blue, and probably isnt the best CB in the league anyway.
There was a report recently that said he would consider leaving so why not ask? If they say f*** off, which they have done, then move on.

 I thought we'd be hearing from you El P!

It is of course PISSING DOWN at present which rather hoists me by my own petard, but I did see MANI from the Stone Roses at the station the other day, so there are lots of CELEBS to watch.

tut tut the pushy arabs being ambitious again. how very new money.

That is why they can build cities in the desert in a matter of hours and it takes us 10 billion years to get stadiums or railway lines built.

It may grate but they will do it eventually. unless of course it all goes tits up.

It's good promotion for themselves as a brand. Being linked to such players makes world news and is the first step of becoming a worldwide franchise like the other big four.
The first step to that is being good at football.

But they are trying to offer regular champions league football- buy getting in players who can push them into the top 4?
