What a complete load of rubbish. I have mixed feelings about the appointment but not about Adams. He brought the first real success for a whole generation of Brighton fans (including myself) and we played fantastic football with him as manager.

We were not a one man team in those days although Zamora obviously was the best player. Anyway, Murray and Forster will probably make up for that in terms of goals next season.

At least give Micky a chance before slagging him off.

Wilkins was given a chance. He took it very well, but has still been cast aside.

DJFG almost certainly understands a lot more about coaching abilities and techniques than you ever will.

This decision is about £££ or egos. Or both.

Anyone who thinks its a recipe for guaranteed success is a fool.

Anyone who thinks its a recipe for guaranteed success is a fool.

I think it could well be a recipe for success-not guaranteed-could well be. Here's why: At Withdean with Adams in charge, teams hated coming here because we had one hell of a noisy 6000 in there. The overall 'feel' of the place was that we were as one and other teams were going to get a hard time both on the pitch and from the stands. That carried on for a while but has been lacking for years now. Withdean has become as quiet as the glee room in an old folks' home. My guess is that the board want the old Withdean back because tickets then were hard to come by for any game. Now, STHs can't give their tickets away if they can't make a game.

I'm hoping that the old enthusiasm will return-one thing Adams was very good at was getting us involved. We couldn't play for the club but we all seemed to do the next best thing-make a load of noise in response to what was generally entertaining football. The type of football that is needed to fill all of those empty seats. Dean has the technical expertise-Adams has the ability to maximise that coaching and get us all buzzing again.

Personally, Withdean was (and is) becoming harder and harder for me to get motivated to go to (round trip of over 100 miles) because the atmosphere has become so abysmal and the football hasn't been exactly inspirational.

Many people are technically gifted and invaluable to their company, but aren't good managers. Once that has been accepted by the non-manager they can get back to doing what they do best and be much happier for it which in turn improves their performance. Nothing against Dean personally from me, however, I think he appears to be better suited to coaching.

I truly hope Dean stays and helps turn us into a strong, united club again. It won't take much-we're all ready for it.

Enthusiasm

What the defenders of Wilkins must realise is that the standard of football combined with the (sometime) lack of enthusiasm from the players under him was driving fans away. I had decided not to go next season after 35 years supporting the club. Now I feel really optimistic and will definitely be going. I may even re-start my away trips which stopped after relegation from the Chhampionship.

It is about believeing in the direction of the club, and the team. I am afraid Wilkins is not a leader - Adams is. I used to read stuff on here from a few about how well Wilkins was doing, but the reality was games would end often in silence, and apart from the end of the season fans were dribbling away. I also doubt Wilkins tactical sense and player management. I think we had a resaonable finishing position because we have two strikers who can both score. Generally, the football was poor.

Imagine how well we could do with those two strikers playing in front of a committed team. The future is now bright. Footbal is a hard game based on success - sorry Dean. Welcome back Micky Adams!!!!

Will you still be whingeing at he first home game next season when Micky Adams walks to he dugout with a huge standing ovation from 7,000 fans? I am looking forward to it.

I've been a fan of Deano but I have always believed that he didn't quite have what it takes to become a great manager, a great coach yes, but as a manager I'm not quite sure. I will not miss the commitee meetings to discuss substitutions, the bringing every player back for corners/free kicks etc.

Deano did however seem to have a good eye for signing players i.e. Forster/Murray and loanees Racon/Richards.

I still believe the players weren't fully behind him though, something which I don't believe will be a problem with Micky.

Whilst it's a huge risk and harsh on Wilkins I believe it'll be worth it.

.

The comparison is a completely flawed one. In MA's time, everyone was excited about coming back to Brighton, and after Priestfield, Withdean didn't seem too bad.

After 9 years people would have got fed up with Withdean, whoever was in charge.

I think that the hope that people like you would think that we can magic that excitement back, by bringing MA back, is a big factor in DK's decision.

The football last year was decent in places, and the home record was very good. Its the place that people have had enough of. 3 months into next season, if we're outside the top 6, crowds will be no different to this year.

I don't think it's completely flawed at all.

There are many people re-newing their season tickets simply because of this announcement. The desired effect is already happening. Whereas prior to it,it looks as though season ticket sales were well below target. I don't know that but there are enough on here saying they'll renew now when they weren't intending to as late as Thursday morning.

This club had become totally flat. There was no energy about the place. Now we have re-newed enthusiasm with the final planning hurdle cleared. Sadly, on the playing side things have become stale. Last season the football may have been, at times, decent. The floating fan isn't looking for decent performances in a library like atmosphere. They want to spend an afternoon having a great time-not leaving the place with 4000 others shuffling out of the ground because of another boring 90 minutes.

We'll only know when next season starts...

where no-one can find me
While always grateful to Adams, I am more than a little disappointed with this news. I liked the idea of an ex Albion hero, ex youth team manager bringing on young local players and doing, I think very well, on next to nothing.

It is a long time since Adam's glory years with us and I am always concverned about managers going back, while the times are different it didn't work with Mullery, or Howard kendall at Everton even.

I expect fewer local players and more big hard buggesr with little finesse.

I'm not 'whingeing' about MA, am I? I've nothing whatsoever against Mickey, and will be right behind him. That's completely missing the point. If the new manager was Wenger, the treatment of Wilkins would still be SHODDY.

reading back that is more than a little unfair on Adams, who I obviously like a lot for what he did for us. But I am concerned, as Wilkins surely cannot stay now. Or even if he does it cannot last long, thereby unsettling a very good end to the season.

Delighted to have Adams back as manager, has given me some motivation to be more regular at Withdean next season.

Some good points there. I can't wait for next season "Sort it out Mickey"
