Can I just shock you? I like wine, despite what I said earlier. At any one time I’ve got ten bottles of wine in the house.

What, the new findings are going to be a cover up?If you listen to Baroness Casey it doesn't sound as though it's going to be that muddy, more of a cover up. I'll leave it there though now.
The Post Office scandal.Follow up on BBC2 Newsnight with abuse victims just started, Baroness Casey there too.
[Not party political btw! Smacks more of the Post Office scandal imho].
No, I honestly think if the inquiry is done fully that we will find that councils, police, politicians & especially local communities will have covered up swept it under the carpet. What, the new findings are going to be a cover up?
Hopefully, as I said before, the inquiry will be into ALL known group / CSE offences to try and find out how and why it happens, and not just a focus on Asian gangs…
There is a lot that can be done better, but it will take money, like better funding social services and police CSE teams for starters. A change in culture to belief of the victim (which I feel from my experience is happening more) is also incredibly important.
Giving young people a feeling of self worth and future would also help, but that’s a very difficult one to solve quickly…

Totally agree on the other points, I hope the new investigation of old cases delivers what it should and also takes in account those family members who knew what was going on but chose to ignore at best or at worst were complicit. I'd also love to see a proper sentencing policy but I think that's wishful thinking.
I don't think anyone is saying it's solely an Asian thing are they ?. But those figures you've quoted are stating 31% of grooming gangs are black or asian and 42% white, out of a population where 81% are white.
That was for the County council elections...You did![]()
Am I not allowed an opinion then, after all you seem to have one on every topic on this board, or do you just get off on sniping all day ?.Good to see that you are waiting for the results of the new inquiry before jumping to conclusions. And what if it doesn't find what you expect, another enquiry ?
And what if they don't find this ? Another enquiry ?

If there was a reluctance to order the inquiry for the reasons you suggest, it’s not specifically a Labour issue , or a left / right issue. It is a political class issue. Politicians at many levels, representing many parties, potentially at serious fault.Starmer’s opposition to this inquiry was always his fear of what it might uncover. That is, Labour MPs, Labour councillors & local “community” leaders being complicit in the cover up. Also the effect this inquiry might have on the Labour Muslim vote, critical in at least 30 seats. The Casey report has meant he can no longer hide. The report must get to the bottom of how the fear of racism and racial tensions prevented the proper criminal investigations into these terrible events. The heads of all the guilty must roll.
Whilst I agree with you wholeheartedly in what you say the point I was clumsily trying to issue was Starmer's reluctance to agree to the inquiry. Remember he said back in January this year people demanding the said inquiry 'as jumping on the far-right bandwagon'. Now 6 months later he enacts another of his spectacular 'U turns'. So is he now, by his own definition, classed as 'far right'?If there was a reluctance to order the inquiry for the reasons you suggest, it’s not specifically a Labour issue , or a left / right issue. I disagree - the call from Reform and belatedly now they're not in power from the Tories, was an inquiry into specifically Muslim grooming gangs.
As far as I can tell that's not what's being proposed, but an over-arching inquiry into ALL known group CSE cases.
Unfortunately for the right, this will also shine a very bright light on our own homegrown offenders too, and rather take the wind out of their sails*.
All previous research indicates that the vast majority of large scale CSE is carried out by white, mainly male, gangs.
The major difference, unlike previous incumbents of the PM position, Starmer has asked someone to look at the evidence and IS then going to act on what they have brought to him!
*I can already hear the "ah, but it's about percentages, innit"!
If it's OK for Sir Kier to be "far right" then it must be OK for everyone nowWhilst I agree with you wholeheartedly in what you say the point I was clumsily trying to issue was Starmer's reluctance to agree to the inquiry. Great research mate....nice edit too! It's OK for you to be far right, but just don't go all snowflake when you get called out for it, same as always.

Do you have a dossier on all those you disagree with (next to that pile of used kleenex). Just an excuse to use your new favourite word "Snowflake" ?It's OK for you to be far right, but just don't go all snowflake when you get called out for it, same as always.
Many on NSC have an enquiry about the inquiry. No problem with that.I can't hold back on this any more - there's been some utterly disgraceful posts from a lot of people who really should know better.
It's a public inquiry, or inquiry for short.
It's not a public enquiry, nor an enquiry.
Do better, please, NSC - I'm very, very disappointed.
Can i inquire who told you that?I've always struggled with getting inquiry right then someone pointed out the IN is because you're looking IN to it. You're not looking EN to it are you?
It's stuck ever since.
