In the history of football there's barely been one world class greek striker. And we are buying 2 incredibly expensive ones in the space of one summer lol.

Why is Greece suddenly a decent market ?!?

Greek talent is so few and far between that the best player of ALL time was a Leicester regular when they were crap, the 4rh best player of all time was a Sheffield utd regular! ...history is not on our side with these transfers.

Normally I would agree with you and you are 100% correct based on past Greek players (and I am Greek).

The main reason we have this wave of talents all of a sudden, is that when our League hit rock bottom (where it still is), and with the financial situation in Greece 15-20 years ago, all of a sudden team had to rely on their youth. Because somehow offering shitty money to play in a shitty league wasn't attractive to foreign players :D
And the older "star" (again for Greek level) players had security, paycheck with minimal effort.

So the past years the teams paid more attention to their academies, and also many 13-15 year olds that their parents could afford it, they went to academies abroad.
Biggest example Pavlidis (Benfica now, but maybe not for long despite a 100M buy out clause) who went to Germany at 14 with 0 german knowledge.

So from this generation just in the 18-23 year old range there are many players that could make it or even have a bigger breakthrough in almost any League:
Karetsas, Kostoulas, Koulierakis, Konstantelias, Tzolis, Tzimas, Mouzakitis, Zafiris, Tzolakis, Mandas, Vagiannidis

I'm loving the potential Greek salad of a squad!

Who else should we be looking at?

If you are looking for CB, Koulierakis. The best modern CB. Can tackle, is a rock, but can also driblle, pass, cross and score.
Wolfsburg bought him from PAOK for about 11M euro, and at just 20 he was a top 10 Bundesliga CB this year. He street value is around 40M+ right now though.
Karetsas is the youngest and has the biggest potential, but if the news from Greece are accurate, Arsenal is close to signing him.
Konstantelias also continues to develop every year.
Tzolis had amazing two years at Fortuna and Brugges (I have no idea how Norwich managed to almost f*** him up completely when he was 20)
Mandas and Tzolakis are also good goalkeepers at 23.

With this glut of young talent, do you think Greece will have a decent World Cup?

Feels like a very big outlay for a teenage striker when we know all too well that teenage strikers can go off the boil but hey ho, it’s not my money.

BTW from the 11 players I mentioned, 7 will start in our friendly game against Slovakia in 1 hr, they just announced the starting 11.

Edit : Tzimas and Kostoulas were not called due to the injuries they had previously and missed games

Tzimas looks a bit slow watching the highlights. The other looks like he could be the business pace, tricks and good finishing. Tzimas may need a loan to a better league possibly the championship to get up to speed.
