But if the algorithm still says O'Riley is going to be worth quite a lot more then breaking even or a modest profit isn’t going to tempt the club into a hasty sell. It’s not as it is in need of relative shall change because over the last two seasons it has made £200m profit:
Yes, we've made a profit. We can afford to do a lot of things, but PB will still not want to waste a penny. That's why we made £200M.
This suggests that the Brighton hierarchy are very happy with the squad we have and as there is no pressure to sell any player why would longstanding transfer policy be ripped up just to get rid of O’Riley? The same reason we bought him still apply: he has got potential.
No change of policy at all. Dahoud, Jahanbakhsh, Tau, Andone, Locadia, Barco ............ O'Riley wouldn't be any different.

I think everyone hopes that….
It’s not weird having a different opinion, isn’t that what makes NSC so good?
It was in specific to two back-to-back comments:

"He’s not up to the standard, sell and move on"
"Bye Matt. Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out."

No problems with difference in opinion at all. Jus thought that those comments were weird

I agree with you and while Matt may have had a troubled debut season, there is no need for any antagonism.

Not really, people express themselves in different ways.

Arguably the first one may well be accurate, not loads of evidence to suggest otherwise so far. Good squad player, but I’m not sure if he starts regularly.

I like him. With a full preseason and a run of games I’d like to think there’s room for him in the squad. But he can’t expect to play only where he wants, when he wants - not even Baleba has that luxury.

I think seeing any future for him at our club is weird. Guess that’s called a difference of opinion.

Totally agree. MOR has done nothing wrong and – IMO anyway – fans should get behind every player that pulls on the stripes.

I do find the whole constant acquisition and turnover of players a bit depressing, though. When I look at the hundreds of millions of pounds that are spent by clubs every transfer window, I often wonder why they don't just stick with what they'd had (within reason) for the past six or so months.

MOR is a sort of case in point, with some fans getting excited about a player that could replace him in the squad. But he's only been around for a season! I could point to loads of examples of players who have taken time to get up to their potential after moving – and especially after injury. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing new players come in, but I do also struggle with the whole football club model of constant churn of players in squads.

One thing I will say, MoR does not speak fluent Danish, by his own admission he only "knows a bit". I believe the original source of these comments was in a Danish publication. So, it was translated into Danish and then back into English. There's a good chance some nuance and/or contexthas been lost in doing this. It seems he's had a chat with Fab but I would not put to much emphasis on the exact meaning of his words about his preferred position.

I'm afraid that a very good player has fallen foul of our slightly ridiculous ambition of accumulating every promising player in Europe under 24. There is simply no way to accommodate Gomez, O'Riley, Yalcouye, Buonanotte, Moran and Sarmiento in the same squad. But was O'Riley ever better than Buonanotte?

But it is a change in policy... Dahoud was an out of algorithm signing, Jahanbakhsh, Tau, Andone, Locadia were all signed, what, 6 years ago at least (bar Barco, who was relatively cheap)? The policy changed drastically after those failures to focus on the "emerging talent" markets that we've looked at.

Last summer is the first summer when our policy evolved to take in several £25m plus signings in one window.

No change of policy at all. We've always moved on players, even expensive ones, who don't make the grade.

And have NSC miss out on endless pages of speculation, rumour and putting two and two together to make 16? I don't think so, Sir!

Ah apologies, I thought you were talking more about the purchasing piece. I actually think that the good sales have masked the poor ones. We got virtually nothing for Jahanbakhsh, Locadia, Tau, Andone, Kozlowski, Suttner, Clarke, Moder etc.
