I think it might be something to do with the innate arrogance of Russians. 'That couldn't possibly happen to me'.

It's likely to be less spectacular than blowing up visible bits of the deck, since the bridge will probably still be able to carry its own weight (evidently, since it's not collapsed), and it may well be able to carry cars or lighter loads. But in the long run unless they specifically designed the bridge for massive explosions* it'll have caused significant damage to the substructure which will heavily limit the capacity of the bridge.
The fun bit is that they probably can't actually inspect the damaged areas to find out how much load the bridge can safely carry, even assuming it's not now gradually sinking under its own weight, which is a possibility. So you either heavily restrict it indefinitely, or just run vehicles over it and hope for the best until something more obviously breaks, which is then a complete nightmare to fix.
* There are sections of bridge and building design codes which cover "forces due to explosions", but I doubt they go as far as the sort of explosion seen here.

Indeed. That point may not be too far away. Russia has made a lot of enemies. If the ethnic communities sense a weakness, they will go after the oppressors - ethnic Russians.

No wonder Zelensky didn't want to share details of Operation Spiderweb with Trump beforehand. This Darren Beattie character who is the acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs is a huge security risk. He hasn't even had proper security vetting. Trump has completely undermined the national security of the US and also global security with his highly dubious and ill-judged appointments... .
