I read a Forest forum in the week and they were talking about taking it to penalties as their hoped for strategy. They're efficient at what they do, but that is just soulless. Football with everything romantic, beautiful and exciting removed. Good luck to them.
I think this nails why Forest are not much fun. They can certainly play but, unusually in the PL these days, they’re game wreckers first and foremost, game makers second. They just suffocate the opposition. Perfectly acceptable tactic which they’re really good at. If we played that way and succeeded I wouldn’t care. It’s just a bit uninspiring as a neutral.

I was absolutely confident we'd win before the game. Had it been played last weekend without the break, I'm still confident we would have.

Once it went to penalties, no chance. We didn’t have the personnel and outside of João Pedro, I had no idea who would take one; apart from maybe Dunk.

Why Hurzeler decided having Hinshelwood take a pressure kick ahead of the likes of Estupiñián or even Adingra, both established International players, is beyond me.

Verbruggen isn't a penalty keeper. Maybe if we could have subbed on a fit Steele.

Sore one last night. Still gutted.

When they lose the ball, within a couple of seconds it’s a 10 man defence, only Awoniyi left upfield to pose a threat. Fullbacks always protected by a team mate in close proximity. Hodgson did something very similar. We haven’t had anything remotely like that since CH and probably never will under TB … the strategy through all the age groups is higher risk-reward football.

Thought we'd win before the tie.

Abandoned all hope once pens arrives.

We're just not the sort of team that would win a penalty shoot out
My thoughts exactly. Pleased we got to 90 minutes drawing as I felt Forest looked likely to score. Credit to the lads for a great extra time performance which could have seen us to Wembley. However, when the pens came I gave up hope.

Everyone around me was looking for at the exit and gathering up their stuff after we missed the first one, some moving to the aisles then. When we missed the second several people left around me.

They are a team that 4 seasons ago were in the Championship battling relegation to league 1. You dont think that they find being in a cup semi at Wembley, and in the Champs league next season anything other than insanely romantic, exciting, and beautiful? Let's not become that arrogant bellend fan set who think we have the right to laud it over others approach to winning football matches.

PSR shenanigans, and possibly the dodgiest non state club owner in the league make it a bit unromantic, yeah. Certainly unexpected though, I’ll give them that

Bart has never saved a pen and looks like he never will. I dont think we'll ever win a shoot out if he's in goal.

My mate left to go to the Park and ride queue to Mill Hill when Gomez missed and it had a few people in the queue already seemly.

Not if you know about their owner. Nothing romantic about it.

Reluctant to say, and I stayed to the end, I’d lumped on before the game at 13/1 for us to lose on penalties. Once it got to that point there was no other outcome, but I did it almost to ensure it didn’t happen. I’m crap at betting. It was a bet I would have been delighted to lose.
