I didn't really react to the pens, I find it strange when everyone goes mental when awarded a pen

I kinda thought we might do it, but that was based on a gut instinct that we would win the match and get one over on Forest for once rather than any kind of logic.

Likewise. If I’d stopped to think more logically about it ahead of the penalty shoot-out; namely Forest’s recent record in them, our comparative youth/inexperience, and Sels being the more imposing presence between the sticks, I might’ve felt less positive.

Think the fact they were being taken in front of the north possibly also gave me misplaced hope.

Not knocking young Jack - he's a good young footballer, had a decent game and had the guts to step up to the plate. But the minute I saw him walking up to take it, maybe it was his body language or something, my first thought was, "He ain't going to score."

This is exactly what I thought when they showed a close-up of him looking incredibly nervous as he put the ball down. He just didn't look confident. It's hard to imagine having that much pressure put on you at such a young age.

It was obvious from Hinslewood's walk up to the spot he wasn't going to score but I was surprised at Gomez's effort. Dunk was very lucky his went in - I sat there with the same dread I have when he takes a direct free kick just outside the box. If only we had five Pedro's or still had Ali Mac.

I felt confident with Dunk but only because he always seems to score his shoot-out efforts (whether expected or otherwise)

Dreaded it going to pens before it started as we don't do well in them and Bart hasn't saved 1 for us. Forest always win pen shootouts to the degree they've never lost 1 in their history of fa cup pen shootouts(as Steve Wilson pointed out on the commentary)

Hate penalties really hate them would much prefer the two captains flick a coin or the managers to come onto the pitch stripped to the waste and have a three round boxing match to decide result now I know for a fact that Fab is a supporter of this as an idea having started boxing training

Lose. We're a Spursy club. Always have been, probably always will be. We failed at 3 playoff campaigns without even reaching 1 final FFS.

Thinking ahead at the time, that crossed my mind as the Albion injuries and changes piled up. Nuno would’ve used that too, marginal gains and all that.

I’m normally have a very much ‘one game at a time’ mindset, but in real time I thought the injuries were also going to screw our top 5 and 8 hopes. At the business end of the season when we’ve been absolutely flying, we need our very best players.

Dunk has never let us down taking pens. He’s taken quite a few now and always scored.

I thought we'd lose, Sels is pretty good, and they've had a good recent record in shoot outs. I had hope obviously but didn't think we'd do it.

The only time I've ever felt confident about a penalty shootout was the playoff semi-final in 2004. After that Virgo header, there was only one team who were going to win
