I think given the age of our squad, our goalkeepers record getting near to penalties and our general penalty shootout history I was expected us to lose.

Not knocking young Jack - he's a good young footballer, had a decent game and had the guts to step up to the plate. But the minute I saw him walking up to take it, maybe it was his body language or something, my first thought was, "He ain't going to score."
Mind you, I really thought Gomez was going to score! What do I know?

I kinda thought we might do it, but that was based on a gut instinct that we would win the match and get one over on Forest for once rather than any kind of logic.

Where’s the option for “I’m thinking I’m outta here before the pens!”

Towards the end of extra time, I was already getting anxiety symptoms as we approached a pen shoot out. By the time the whistle blew, I was getting palpitations - I literally couldn’t watch a sudden death decider. Especially as our record is not good in winning shoot outs.

I found out we had lost from a bunch of stewards looking at their phones as I arrived at the station. Glad I didn’t stay tbh - from the highlights, both Gómez and Jack’s spot kicks looked liKe easy saves and glad I didn’t witness the inevitable grief.

There must be fan bases that go into penalties confident but it’s not the Albion way
