There isn't many others who can do that, great feet to get past players and get off the shot. And when he's on it, he's excellent.

Truth is though, for every one of those, there's another 20 running into people and losing ball 😞
Is it unfair to call him a bit of a luxury player? He's capable of absolute worldies, generally works hard but his decision-making is so inconsistent. He's the only player in our squad who tries to score goals like that, but I don't think he does enough (yet) to get ahead of Georgi, Pedro, Mitoma, Minteh etc

Another beauty.

screamer to equalise as Paraguay came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away in Colombia.
Blimey, that was an amazing goal. He received the ball with 4 players around him and then went past another two, followed by a delicious strike into the top corner.

If he could add more passes and more defending to his repertoire we would have one hell of a player on our books.
Fortunately Julio can now see from our existing starting XI what is required of him to get into our side.

I imagine that the scientific metrics are what causes doubts about his inclusion.

Perhaps I'm unfairly judging him by relying on my naked eye rather than having the data that measures his input.
He is undoubtedly a special player, hopefully he can add the missing bits to his game.

You have to assume this is the case. 10 to 15 years ago the ability to shoot and score was much more highly valued than it is now.

The other obvious point in watching that video was the corner from Gomez for their first goal. On that evidence he should be taking every set piece for us

The issue with both Enciso and Ferg is that they are both on the way to potentially being great but with big gaps on their play. But they both feel entitled to play every game.

If they could just relax into accepting their squad roles with us while they develop it would work.

Rutter, Pedro, Wellbeck, all accept extended periods of 2nd or 3rd best when they're not playing well.

Surely we use the scientific metrics to buy players, but once they're here the manager chooses who plays based on their experience and the team's needs? He got dropped because he wasn't fulfilling his role well enough.

Totally agree with this.

I think all players have scientific trackers in the shirt collars to monitor their metrics for every second they are on the field.
They record speed, intensity of runs, distances run, where they run (i.e. tracking back), heart rate and plenty more. In a nutshell, how much effort they are putting in compared to their expected maximum.

This provides information for when changes are made just like us looking on the petrol gauge to know when we need to fill up our car with fuel, or when we need to recharge our electric vehicle.

I get the impression Julio wasn't putting in as much as Fab would wish in some areas of his game.
Pressing - could do better
Defending - could do better
Passing - could do better

Minteh, Mitoma, Geoginio, Pedro and Welbeck are ahead in all the above categories and it's beginning to look like Gruda might be nudging ahead too.
Yalcoure and Tzimas will also be in the mix next season.

Enciso and Buonanotte will both need to do things differently to get a squad place.
Some players will need to move, I'm glad I don't have to make the decisions.

(Fab will have all their data from their time at Ipswich and Leicester respectively)
