Had the shin been 2 inches to the right DCL would have been straight off and nobody would have batted an eyelid.
If my gran had balls and all that. Your defence of all things refereeing is another example of you being purposely contrary on here.

The problem is when you have everyone crying for consistency all the time then that means it has to be letter of the law, because “common sense” will vary among different people, referees and VAR included.
Agreed, but that's just another way of saying that 'common sense' isn't common, and isn't sensical and, ergo, is a load of old nonsense. People like it though.

As if anyone predicted that mess - a game worthy of the first TV take of the third round with the most exciting team in the prem at home 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'm not being a contrarian (for a change) it's a shite decision and wouldn't have been given without VAR.

But the boot was inexplicably above the ball and (hardly any) contact was made.

The very type of decision that would have had Roy, palace fans, and pundits screaming for VAR because the referee needs help.

Everton came out the worst there, violent conduct ban, a nasty injury to one of their form players and another game they don’t need in their drop battle

That was a good Championship style, 1980s first division style clash.

Pluck.

Minor correction, it would be “Serious Foul Play”, not Violent Conduct.
