What a question Man United are historically Englands biggest team and has a world wide fan base befitting that status.
It currently has a barmy set of owners who appear to have absolutely no idea about soccer this side of the Atlantic.
Would RDZ want the job would be depended on how ambitious he is compared to how suicidal Man United is at that moment

I’m not sure he’d go. The problems there can’t be fixed by changing the manager and he’ll know it.

I just don’t believe elite level managers think like that. He would surely think he could sort them out. And people said exactly what you have said there about Spurs, and look at them at the moment. RDZ thinking he couldn’t make Man Utd better would be him admitting to himself that he is not a top manager. I just can’t see it somehow.

This thread's posts are very similar to when we had Potter and the Chelsea job became a possibility. Many fans saying he'd never leave because the other Club is a basket case - money and pride are great motivators. If asked RDZ would go. (IMO)

I personally don't think RDZ has done enough yet. As others have said, Emery is a far more experienced and successful manager although you'd argue that might be a sideways move right now.
The idea that RDZ wouldn't consider the move in the summer is nuts though.
Whatever you think of them, and whatever mess they're currently in, they're one of the very biggest clubs in the world. And any manager with any self confidence would fancy turning things around.

I don't really think that's all that's in question. You have to also consider:

• "Would De Zerbi back himself to improve Man United's current crop of players?" Yes, I think he would.
• "Would De Zerbi have more control over transfers?" Yes, I think he would given Ten Hag has been the main driver in signing Antony and Onana etc
• "Would De Zerbi be given funds to improve the squad" Yes.

Given that, I think he'd seriously consider backing himself to turn it around.

I don’t think (maybe controversially) that Spurs are that badly run.

Man U are horrendously run, when I say the problems can’t be changed by the manager I don’t mean about the players or the playing style but the owners and the structure. It’s a mess.

RDZ has turned down jobs on principle before, Bologna for example. I am not saying he definitely wouldn’t go, that would be daft, just I am not sure that he would.

I also get the feeling RDZ isn’t entirely happy with our summer transfer dealings, I felt at Villa away he made a point of starting Hinshelwood (who obviously wasn’t ready as hasn’t featured since) as if to say this is all I have left.

He says all the right things in public but I’m sure deep down he worries about how sustainable things are here, yes Man United are an unstable scattergun but it’s a different sort of problem to the ones he has here.

Yes, he knows the limitations here but he also understands the positives.
I honestly think he is being lined up as the next City manager and that will come in the summer of 2025.
I also think Radcliffe will want a coach that is prepared to work with others like Brailsford (sp?) and that’s why I think he’d fancy Potter as he would think that he would be better as a ‘team player’.
Of course I could be wrong but I actually don’t think United will sack ETH at this point. As I said before, on an earlier post, Unai Emery would seem like the stand out candidate.

RDZ a bit different to Potter in that he’s already managed in the ECL with Shakter. I foresee Pep and Klopp leaving around the same time (2-3 years from now) which would be perfect timing for RDZ.

He would, no question. It would represent a massive leap forward in terms of status in his career - as much as we hate it.

Looking at his managerial career so far, he has managed nobody of that level and expectation.

That said, I wouldn’t see it ending well. Manchester United have a decidedly poor squad of players for all their money. They spend huge in all the wrong places, and in 2023 are still starting very expensive flops they can’t shift like Maguire and Antony. Then they’ve got very expensive flops like Sancho who aren’t even playing.

They are in a bad way.

I'm not so sure.

De Zerbi's strength is drilling players obsessively to play in a certain way.
The football is amazing, but it revolves around players knowing how to play in every position on the pitch.
To get that to work at United, he will need 100% buy in from the players.
He won't get that straight away and isn't likely to, until he has won something, or has a proven track record of Champions league qualification.

De Zerbi has a lot more self belief than Potter and is more of a purist.
I think he knows he has the perfect set up here, to build a foundation that will project him into elite management, for a very long time.
There is no rush to jump for the first big job on offer.

I also think Tony knows what he has and will stump up the cash to keep him for as long as he wants to stay.

City is a much better fit, where the players already have a culture of listening to the boss and executing his vision.
By the time Pep is ready to leave, RDZ may be better placed to suceed him.

I think its very different between Potter and RDZ. to me Chelsea aren't a big club, just a club with a lot of money that bought trophy's and Potter went for the £££. Man Utd however are up there with Barca & Real Madrid as one of the biggest clubs in world football, so to offer the role to RDZ i think he'd see it as an honour and a challenge he could achieve success at. Question remains if his loyalty would override that desire.
