[Albion] Ajax Amsterdam

Think it will be a lower points total than average needed in our group because there is no obvious whipping boy.
That’s why it’ll likely be dependent on where we pick up the points.

4 from Ajax would probably rule them out and then 3 from Marseille or AEK.

We’re a busted flush and with the injuries ripe for Ajax to come and spoil the day.
Is only really estupinan that really hurts us. He is probably the only one that is difficult to replace with like for like. I have been watching Ajax fan channel which is here for anyone interested https://www.youtube.com/@weTalkAjax and they do look in one hell of a state. Fans chucking things on the pitch, game being stopped, players giving interviews saying they have given up on the season so despite a few injuries probably the best time to play them maybe ever.

Anything less than P4 W2 D1 L1, from here on, I reckon we're out.

Only just!

AEK had 23 shots against them and Marseille 25, but they somehow fluked draws in each.
Maybe but xg was close in both games. If we have our shooting boots on we really should be looking at scoring at least 3.

It would be good if we win it, but it won't send us through if we do and we're not out if we lose
Sure, we're not out if we lose but for a good finish you're then looking at 3 successive wins, including 2 away games. If we lose at home again and our record becomes 1 point from a possible 9, there'd be nothing to suggest we'd suddenly pull that out of the bag.

Or 2 wins and a draw gives us a decent chance

We're probably better away than at home

Our xg was almost exact the same as City on Saturday (0.75 to 0.71 in one analysis I saw)…..
Yer that was silly . How could the first goal not have been an xg of one?!? Also haaland had an easy one on one which he screwed up

Ok. Seven points still wouldn't look easy having previously taken 1 from a possible 9.

If we went through on 8 points, that's not going to win the group so we'd then face a Champions League drop-out after Xmas. If we can only manage 8 points in this group, you might then even argue we'd be better off finishing 3rd as it would look like the Conference would be a more suitable standard.

Massive must-win game on Thursday in my opinion if we are serious about going a decent distance in the Europa League.

Ask Alvarez, he completely shanked the shot from one boot onto the other - he got very lucky. It was probably a 1 in 3 go in type goal I’d say.

Even a penalty is only 0.75 or so usually. 1.0 would have to be a tap-in to an open goal from a yard out
Haaland’s goal would have been quite low……Mitoma’s miss probably higher
