I would pick Webster over Colwill. Forest are a low block and hit you with set pieces sort of team, they caused Liverpool huge problems with long throw ins last weekend, I think aerial ability will get Webby the nod.

I had a different view of his performance on Sunday that many on here have expressed. To me it looked like Webster ( in starting our attacks and stopping theirs) was making a pretty strong case for that position for the rest of this season and the one after.
Totally agree. I thought he and Dunk were absolutely superb on Sunday.

But Steele is better with his feet and that was why he was picked ahead of Big Bob. I don't think anything has changed there.

Generally I agree with resting Mitoma and Gross. Ayari and Buonanotte have looked promising and Billy Gilmour surely deserves some minutes. Assuming neither Welbeck nor Ferguson are fit, let Undav run around softening up the Forest defence for an hour - I can't believe he'd actually score a goal - and then unleash Enciso.
Sounds good 👍🏼

Mitoma just looked dead on his feet throughout extra time and for a bit before that as well. I was shocked he wasn't subbed off for Buonanotte. If he starts tomorrow he is damn good at recovery.
I thought we would have seen Buonanotte for March in extra time based on the knock he received during the 90 minutes.

Anyway should be a press conference this afternoon, will be interesting to see if he keeps the situation closer to his chest as per the semi final or go back to the full blown openness of availability

These are top athletes in peak condition is it any different to playing in a World Cup in the latter stages?
Well, I guess if you play 120 minutes and win in the World Cup you only have a couple more games at most before a long break. Every game is do or die but it isn't in the league. Their opponents would be going through the same thing. And I'd also have been shocked if the Japan manager would have kept Mitoma on for the whole 120 in similar circumstances. So, yeah, think it's different

Some good news on the injury front, maybe on Lamptey, Lallana, Ferguson or Welbeck would be massive for us.

Some more random bad news, potentially very serious.

RDZ says he wants 20 who can play for us. After Sunday we know how many we have. 13

So a reminder, we played Sunday, then we play Wednesday, then Saturday, then Thursday, then Monday.

This works out as 5 games (including one lasting around 130 minutes plus penalties) in 15 days.

If we don’t rotate Wednesday, then when?

These aren't 17-stone, boozing/smoking amateurs who need to play their sunday league games in-hand midweek at Waterhall after working x hours.. we're talking about a group of professional athletes supported by training coaches, physios, medical staff nutrition experts, sleep experts etc etc..

Segmented, the most important gaps are between Wolves & Utd.. (4.5 days / 110 ish hours) & Everton to Arsenal (5.75 days / 140 ish hours).

The going only gets tougher post Arsenal.. 4 games, 10 days - so if there were to be any rotation - it's probably going to be for the Newcastle or Man City game

Why does Gilmour deserve some minutes? He isn't very good. Agree with the rest of what you say though.

I think Undav and March need to start, if only to have the chance to banish Sunday's glaring misses. I realise Undav is contentious but the more I think about it the more I think it will happen. Ferguson is likely to be injured, Welbeck hobbled off at Wembley and I'd rather he wasn't rushed back either. That leaves Undav, who I feel will not get a better chance to shine all season.

Well yes, but those medical experts are also feeding into the club data on the number of miles, the number of minutes each player is playing before the risk of injury becomes critical.

We've always managed this well and this has been key to us having a relatively light burden of injured players

These aren't the players you're looking for.

A bit harsh. He looked good in the Cup against Arsenal. He just needs minutes to find his rhythm.

The training effort will be dialled right back to manage overall load (which is the more important measure rather than 90 mins of effort in isolation).

Ferguson reported as having a grade one ankle sprain that take around 2/3 weeks to heal, the Spurs game in which he was injured was 17 days ago. I think he’ll be ok to make the squad. I think we might have a fully operational Death Star, maybe.

Steele
Veltman-Dunk-Colwill-Estupinan
Gilmore-Caicedo
March-Mac Allister-Mitoma
Welbeck
Subs: Sanchez, Webster, Lallana, Moder, Groß, Enciso, Buonanotte, Ferguson, Undav.

A little rest for Pascal and Webster, Steele back in for his footwork and Buonanotte is the Italian word for ”good night”.

It all depends who is fit and ready to play . I hope either Welbeck or Ferguson is available. I would not like to go up there with just Undav.
If Welbeck and Ferguson are ruled out, I wonder if RDZ will be looking at Enciso as a central striker

March MacAllister Mitoma
--------Enciso

I still don’t think Julio is a 90 minute player yet, so he would be sharing the duties with Undav.

I do have a sneaky suspicion that this is the position he will end up in

There needs to be some rotation against Forest, the players looked knackered in the 2nd half against Man Utd. This season is finally catching up with us.

I’d like to see Gilmour play but RDZ doesn’t seem to rate him. If he doesn’t play the next 2 games I can’t see him having a future here .
